Autodesk Assistant Chat Automatically Scrolls to Bottom While Response Is Generating:
Summary
When Autodesk Assistant is generating a response in Fusion, the chat window repeatedly forces itself back to the bottom of the conversation.
If I scroll upward while the Assistant is still responding so I can reread previously provided instructions or steps, the chat automatically scrolls back to the newest response. I can scroll back up again, but it continues pulling the view back to the bottom until the Assistant has completely finished generating its response.
This makes it very difficult to use Autodesk Assistant for step-by-step Fusion workflows because I frequently need to reference an earlier instruction while the next portion of the response is still being generated.
Steps to Reproduce
Open Autodesk Assistant within Fusion.
Ask the Assistant a question that produces a relatively long response.
While the Assistant is still generating the response, scroll upward in the conversation to read an earlier section.
Begin reading the previous instructions.
Observe that the chat automatically scrolls back to the bottom/newest generated text.
Scroll upward again.
The chat continues forcing the view back to the bottom repeatedly until the Assistant finishes responding.
Actual Behavior
The chat automatically follows the newest generated text even after the user has manually scrolled away from the bottom.
Manual scrolling does not appear to disable the automatic follow behavior. As a result, the user's reading position is repeatedly lost.
Expected Behavior
Once the user manually scrolls upward, automatic scrolling should temporarily stop.
The chat should remain at the user's selected position while the response continues generating in the background.
A small control such as "Jump to latest", "New response below", or a downward-arrow button could appear instead, allowing the user to return to the newest content when desired.
Automatic scrolling could resume once the user manually returns to the bottom of the conversation.
User Impact
This is especially disruptive when Autodesk Assistant is being used for detailed CAD workflows.
For example, I may be following a multi-step modeling procedure and need to reread Step 2 while the Assistant is generating Steps 5 through 8. Instead, the interface repeatedly pulls me away from the section I am reading and back to the newest text.
I then have to find my previous location again, only for it to be pulled back to the bottom several seconds later.
For longer technical responses this can happen many times during a single answer and makes the Assistant unnecessarily frustrating to use as an interactive reference while working in Fusion.
Suggested Behavior
A common chat behavior would solve the problem:
Auto-scroll while the user remains at the bottom of the conversation.
Detect when the user manually scrolls upward.
Immediately suspend auto-scroll.
Continue generating the response without changing the user's viewport.
Display a small "Jump to latest" indicator/button.
Resume normal auto-scroll only after the user returns to the bottom.
I have also attached a screen recording demonstrating the behavior.
