Absolute beginners tutorial complately out of date

I have never used a 3d modelling software so I have been doing the set of lessons for the Absolute beginners. All ok until I got to lesson 7. Now I realise the tool palette is completely different. Nothing is working as per the lesson. There's no sculpt menu,  I tried to google and couldn't get anywhere. If you can't update the videos at least do an updated print lesson plan. I read someone else say to do Solid > Create > Create Form, however the create form option doesn't exist. This is useless. The whole point of videos for absolute beginners is to kind them through the basic workings of the program. They can't do that if it doesn't match the program they are using at all. The comparison videos showing tool path changes etc confusing more then anything else I don't understand what the old ones do or the new ones. I am very close to moving to a different modeling program unless I can find up to date information.

Wow, cool down!

Firstly, it would be good to add the videos guides you are referring to.

Secondly, if you want to progress, you need to learn how to transfer stuff.

The Fusion UI changed, but only in minimal matter. The functions are the same.

Your post sounds kind of agressive.

If you don't want to use Fusion, don't do it. Feel free to move on.

Which series of lessons,

I found Fusion Mastery lesson 7, and he very briefly mentions Sculpt because it is default for very new uses, and he was dealing with import export Iges files.  Same lesson?

He also briefly mentioned that for Sculpt to be available you have to be capturing history.  If not the Menu is as you say, missing that item.

So Capture History, then

Solid > Create > Form

As he doesn't use the menu item, I may be in the wrong lesson.

Might help....

Earlier this summer I started to create a series of beginner tutorials, but then got sidetracked by my real work.

In any case, this might get you started...

As you progress I can create additional videos.

apologies if I came across aggressive, I was just very very frustrated yesterday after spending hours trying to work out what I was supposed to do, failing and coming to the realisation that the rest of the lesson plans were going to be useless to me. Previously  I had already tried a video tutorial on youtube and hit the same problem, then I was tried the official lessons on autodesk website, thinking they should be correct but no they were not.

I don't think you realise how difficult it is to learn a program that is completely foreign to you when the instructions and tools are all differently named. If photoshop changed their tool names etc I would be fine as I am already familiar with the program and what they do. I can also generally work out similar sorts of graphic programs easily enough as they usually function in the same way. But the only program even remotely similar to Fusion 360 I have used is  2d autocad  from 2007 which is quite different. Without correct instructions it becomes completely impenetrable to a newbie.

This is the lesson I was referring to, https://f360ap.autodesk.com/courses/getting-started-in-fusion-360/lessons/lesson-7-import-and-export but the solution to this particular lesson doesn't help that I was hoping to use the other 40 lessons to teach myself how to use the program and now I can't. However I have found a workaround hopefully of googling youtube tutorials released in the last 6 months and hopefully can find some good ones.

that does sound like the right one, I wasn't even sure what we were supposed to be doing with the sculpt patch tools, it wasn't clear and then I couldn't find the right ones either. My frustration is that I don't think I can now use the rest of the lesson plans to learn to use the program if the names of the tools and menu arrangement are completely different.

Thankyou, I will check this out. That's very kind of you. I really think Autodesk should pay someone to make a new set of videos after such a big update. After googling it seems I am far from the only person getting frustrated.

as a beginner i can follow what he is saying. and if you have to ask. you are not the one to respond to his question. defer to someone who understands. i am having the same problem, the reason i found this question.

Been a while since it fixed it for me, and when all said and done, where things are, has not changed so much.

Might help....
