Currently when using 3D printing you print in layers. This gives poor strength to the part in certain directions. This can be improved by thickening the walls of the part making the solid outer surface of the part thicker. What if you could add solid shapes within the fill in any area you wanted? Then you could alter the weight strength or twisting strength to particular areas which would be great for many industries
My suggestion is to develop what I would call zone printing. The way it would work is you develop the part as normal then choose the wall thickness and fill type for printing after you would do the zoning.
The part needing strength, weight or twisting strength in a certain area would be cordoned off. Within that area solid patterned shapes could be used. Around the solid shapes the fill pattern would still be there. These zoning solids could be directional larger or smaller sizes or more dense towards thinner areas or even be stochastic. They would go from one wall to the other. You no longer are restricted by the outer wall strength as it now could vary in any area and of different types throughout the part.
