Stock post for 5X Onsrud router

I will be honest, we are working on this one regardless of votes from the community, as we purchased an Onsrud router for our new build space in Boston.   With that said, I wanted to add the Idea for it so that users with Onsrud machines can chime in on it.

Al, which controller is on the new C.R. Onsrud? And great choice. Way better than Thermwood and DMS. I did quite a bit of research of 5-axis routers a few years back. C.R. Onsrud shone through in a lot of different ways. Can you change the title to C.R. Onsrud instead of Onsrud? They are two different companies and not associated with each other. Onsrud make great solid carbide router cutters though.

How is this post handling retracts and rewinds for the head head configuration?

The post is setup to handle the tool retract and C-axis rewind as follows.

   1. Retract the tool up the tool axis a distance of the "tool flute length + adjusted distance for tool crossing A0 + properties.safeRetractDistance" at safeRetractFeed.

   2. Rapid position the rotary axis above the part.

   3. Plunge the tool back to its original position at safePlungeFeed.

I am not sure if this is the right thread, but I am looking for a POST for a 3-axis C.R. Onsrud (the brand new 2x3 - we may have the first one). We have tried using this post for the 5 axis but it is not working. Can anyone here or at Autodesk assist in someway? Perhaps at the very least, suggestions for how to edit this POST for the 5-axis to work for a 3-axis?

Hello Michael,

The generic 'cr onsrud fanuc 31i.cps' post does have the 'has5Axis' property that can be set to 'No' to run the post in 3-axis mode.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your response. Forgive me but I very new to CNC. I tried this but I now realize that our CR Onsrud CNC uses the B&R controller, not the Fanuc.

I did some research and found this, but it failed to generate NC:

It might be best if you contact your local HSM/Fusion CAM reseller for some training and support on this issue. If you are willing to work with me in New Zealand then I can help...

Using post processors from other CAM software like mecsoft Visual Mill will never work. Have you tried using the Generic Fanuc post?

@Anonymous  you are also MUCH better off posting in the thread you linked to than in here.
