Low inventory reports

after talking with the help desk, there currently is no way to run reports on your current "low" inventory items.  I know that emails are sent when inventory is low, but what happens when you miss them, or forget about it.  there needs to be a way you can do an audit based on low inventory leves, and compare it to your purchase orders.  I am very supprised this option is not available.

Thank you for raising this, @josh_wrubel .

By "low" inventory items, do you mean items that are below their corresponding minimum inventory?

There is the possibility to look into your material requirements and create purchase orders for products that will run below the minimum inventory in the future. I'm interested into knowing more about your current process: are currently managing the inventory on the material requirements or on the inventory page?

At this time I have never used the material requirements.  When I first looked at it there was flaws in the system so I never re-explored it.

Do you have more details on what those flaws were? We have made several significant enhancements about 1-2 years ago, so it may be worthy to revisit if you can take advantage of it now.

I am also very surprised this isn't a core feature of the software. It's a very integral funciton for us, and the email notifications feel like a band aid solution. It's almost eaiser for me to walk into the shop and look at which items look low, instead of being able to see this at a glance. I need this information to be able to create purchase orders at the right time, and to generate the correct production orders based on current stock. We dont' manufacture our products to order, we assemble our products and stock them ready to ship to customers. I'm sure this is a reasonably common workflow.

Material requirements seems to try to project inventory needs in future dates based on open production and sales orders. This is an entirely different thing then basic inventory minimums and is not what I'm looking for.

Would love to see more discussion about this and potential implementation at some point.

Hello @jeremyTY2QQ , thank you for your comment! Indeed I agree this would help several customers. As this idea gets more votes, we'll be prioritizing it accordingly on our development pipeline.

Would a filter in the inventory list by "Quantity" with the option "has quantity below minimum inventory" (or a similar naming) be helpful? Then you could look at the data and from there create Purchase or Production Orders.

Hi @andrade_david, Yes that would absolutely work. The filter makes sense, and it would also be helpful to have a 'sort by quantity' option so that the lowest quantity items show up first. Combining a filter for below minimums and sort by quantity would be perfect.
