Inspection Tooling

Inspection Tooling

One option that would be of benefit (for Tron and most likely other machine shops) is if under the Quality drop down there was a category that allowed you to create inspection tools (almost like a product). Within this tool you can upload latest calibration certificates (and archive old ones) and give shop floor licensee the ability to sign it out for use. It should also allow the shop floor license holders to see who has it signed out so it can be located if needed. The signing in and out of the tool would be beneficial for larger shops and it should also allow inspectors to get notified when a tool becomes in need of a re-certification for calibration.

Another nice feature of this would be for someone to see if they even have a certain tool (thread gauge etc) for the feature they are trying to check.

I have a separate excel sheet for listing which inspection tools we current have. But if I could have everything in a centralized location that would be most beneficial.

Any chance this idea is getting any consideration?

I love this idea.

We actually had an API finding last year related to inspection tooling, so I ended up revamping how we handle record keeping and even purchased a stronger system to help manage it.

I really like the concept of having an “Inspection Tooling” section in Fusion, almost like products. You could break it down into tools (like a calibration station, tape measure, thread gauges, etc.), track calibration records, and manage sign-in/sign-out so everyone knows where tools are and who has them.

I also think it would be a great next step to tie this into production orders. For example, job is created, users could log what tools were used. That would add a lot of traceability, help with audits, and even give records that customers would like to see.

It could also tie into purchasing — so we can show we used specific tools (XYZ tool) or track when tools were bought, calibrated, or replaced.

Overall, having everything centralized instead of separate spreadsheets would be a big improvement.
