tool path and WCS

HI

I am new to Fusion 360, and have a few questions, but most I have been able to solve on my own.

My biggee right now is posting out g code and having my WCS and home positions the same. When posting out a program fusion does not pick up wcs, it post the program from the start of the tool path. When loaded on the machine the starting of the tool path now is at the home or touch off position. Not the corner of the stock piece.

How to correct this, is the question.

thank

Richard

Hi @Anonymous

Few little checks you can do. First of all, you define which work offset you want to use (G54,G55,G56 etc) in the last tab of your setup. If you specify a number 0 or 1, this will call G54, if you type number 2, this will call G55 etc. I have attached a screenshot of this for your reference. I would check this first of all and ensure that where you have set your datum on the machine, you have set this to the correct work offset number as the one you are posting your program to. Another quick check would be to look for the work offset number in the posted code to check if the post processor is functioning correctly. As @KrupalVala has said here, if you attach your project and post file we can have a look and see if it is anything to do with them causing the issue. If not it will be something on the machine.

Cheers

Good morning Mathew

The post is set to 0, so I am posting out G54. I am thinking that I am missing something on the mill setup that is allowing or not allowing the program to align with the block that I would mill.

And I don't see your screenshot, or see how to attach files in this program.

Let's establish a couple bits of info that really are needed;

Machine and controller?

Post processor being used?

Does your machine support work offsets, or does everything base itself off the machine home position?

Hey Seth

I am using Fusion 360, free trial version for posts

Linuxcnc  for a controler

on a DIY router mill

After doing so more reading this morning I see have to get a better grip on the WCS in linuxcnc control. I am not getting the coordinate set correctly.

thanks

Hey guys

THANK YOU ALL FOR RESPONDING

I got myself figured out, it was an OM problem, the computer was doing as it was told. I was trying to give it to much information.

And OM stands for Operator Malfunction.

Thanks again

Richard
