T Slot roughing

Hi Guys

Whats the best toolpath to rough this part with the t slot cutter shown?

Is fusion capable of this?

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for posting! Yes Fusion is capable of roughing the part with a t slot cutter, using 2D contour would be a good choice for this kind of toolpath. You can tick "Roughing Passes" in the passes tab, adding multiple depths too to make sure you cover the length of the internal diameter, not just machining the selected contour, specify your roughing parameters - see an example in the picture attached - and then select the heights you wish to machine between using the heights tab - as to avoid the lip in the internal diameter.

If you have more questions please feel free to ask; if this answers your question, please accept as solution.

Thanks,

Graham

Hi Graham

Just getting back to this as I have been off work.

This has been a great help. Many thanks.

Just do regular roughing with a little bit depth below the undercut feature. It will do fine.
