Slot: Tangential Fragmentation Extension Distance rarely [if ever?] extends the toolpath?

I'm pretty sure at least once over the past 4ish years I've specified a TFED with the slot strategy and it extended the toolpath but at least 99% of the time it doesn't do anything.

Here you can see a slotting toolpath:

And here is that same toolpath with TFED value of 10":

Slots are driven by a sketch:

Is the TFED setting not supposed to have any effect with the slotting strategy?

TFED won't violate the contour. It will happily work on an open one though:

Do you know if there are any plans on having TFED extend slots with closed chain selections?

How and where would it be extended? Which contour should it violate?

whichever contours the operation dictates as those constraining the start and end of the toolpath.

Right, but a closed chain implies that the toolpath is contained inside of itself. There's no mechanism to say "oh, poke thru this wall".
So no, there are no plans to implement this, especially since we have the 2D Contour toolpath that can do pretty much all of this (although requiring slightly different selections and geometry)

Yes and I'm saying specifying a TFED should override that containment.
