Hi

I have just recently obtained Fusion 360 in my workplace. It is the first CAM package we have ever tried to use. We have 2 mills using siemens 828d controllers but Fusion does not have a post processor for this. Is there any way to alter the settings to make the 2 mills compatible with Fusion 360.

We are using a free trial just now but dont want to commit to purchasing if there is no way for us to implement the software.

It is my understanding the Siemens 840d post should work, unless it is very customized.

The best thing you can do is simply try the Siemens post and compare the differences. The posts are extremely customizable and many edits are quick and painless. We even have a Post Processor forum: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/post-processors/bd-p/218

Before you start looking for help, you are going to want some things in hand:

A clear and concise program that the machine has run succesfuly, hopefully demonstrating at least a few of the abilities (drill/tap cycles, various M and G codes)

A decent understanding of what codes you do and do not want in the program

A little bit of patience

Hello,

Did you get an post processor for the 828D?
I had the same problem at my shop and I customised the existing 840d processor.

But I´m getting little bugs (safty plane height isn´t right, the rawmaterial is always a square).
I can work with but I really woud like to have an perfect post processor so I don´t have to change the code at the mill.
Doe´s someone has got any solutions for these 2 problems.

My java skills are now at the end gg

greetings, Lukas 🙂

To find a post and test it for your machine, you might want to read thru this information.

Most likely the 840 post will be the best place to start, but depending on your machine, you might need some changes.
