Optimize toolpath

Hi,

How could I optimize the toolpath, I want the tool to retract 2mm from cutting, now the tool retracts like 10mm or more each pass.

also on the bottom of the part it leaves a remanent of material not milled.

Is there anything else I could optimize the maximun stepdown should be 0.3mm.

Thanks.

.3MM stepdown is awfully light for a 3D Adaptive toolpath. Are you using a light-duty machine, or cutting a very hard material?

Your 10mm Clearance moves are coming from your Clearance Height, which is set to 10mm above Stock Top.

I agree with Seth here, the stepdown is really small for this strategy.  If you are using such a small stepdown to make sure you remove as much material into the shallow areas, then maybe you should think about activating "Machine Shallow Areas" from the passes tab.  This will allow you to only add extra passes in those regions instead of everywhere on your model.   Another detail that may help, from the linking page, your retraction policy is set to full retract, maybe you want to change this to minimum retraction to remove the smaller retracts.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thanks, I am facing some problems, I need the tool to start on point 0,0,20 and finish in the same position.

I tried with the predrill and entry position and nothing happens.

yes the material is carbon steel and it is light duty cnc router. I give it 0.6 stepdown now.

Out of curiosity, do you ALWAYS need the tool to start at 0,0,20?  I've seen that quite a few times on wood router where we had to have the same start and end point for tools.  Is this the case for you?  Cause I might be wrong but I don't think you can set this in Fusion.  Maybe more of a post processor setting/modification that could be done to output this all the time.  The tool could probably be sent to 0,0 and the clearance height in Z before starting.

Just a thought here.
