Mill Turn Radial Live Tooling XZC Mode

Hi all,

I've been having some trouble figuring out the correct way to get a mill turn post to output in XZC mode.

I have attached an example of the part I'm trying to manufacture, where I can only use radial live tooling. When posting the programme, I get a 'failed to post' error due to limits.

The post doesn't default to use XZC when out of the limit of the Y axis. When I try to 'force' it with 'useXZCMode' or 'usePolarMode' I still get the same error.

The post describes Polar and XZC mode as 'deprecated but still supported'

I've noticed with axial live tooling, when out of the range of Y axis travel, the post will default to XZC output.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @a_mcdonaldB83YL ,

Radial toolpaths will need to use the "Wrapped" 4x toolpath options to post properly in XZC mode. You can refer to the article below for better understanding:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-approach-XZ...

In the attached project, the machining type is set as 3-Axis, due to which its not able to generate XZC output.

For this project if XZC output is necessary, you will have to use Tool in Axial direction, but then again you will have to check for tool feasibility.

Hi Aju,

Thank you for your response.

I have spent sometime having a play with the 'wrap' feature but have been unsuccessful in getting it to produce the kind of tool path I would like.

I'm guessing that what I would like to achieve is currently impossible with this post, tooling and setup?

Thank you for your help!

Hi

You can do this with Geodesic using Multiaxis mode 4 axis and "To Rotary"

Hello,

Geodesic is a tool path that I have not played with, but this is exactly what I'm after.

Thank you for all of your help!
