Help with Z Axis Orientation When Using Form Mill While Utilizing 4th Axis Rotary

Hello All,

Attached is a 4th axis rotary manufacturing setup that I haven't figured out how to get what I want from it. I am utilizing a form tool that has 2 angles and a radius on it. I believe the issue begins when I am selecting the tool orientation position for the Z axis in the multi-Axis section for the 2D contour. Technically the geometry I am utilizing would not be perpendicular to Z due to the angle however, I haven't come up with a solution of choosing other geometry. I also believe I have issues with the radius on the form mill with choosing the correct compensation point. I have done workarounds in the past with just eliminating the angled undercut and deleting the radius then 2D contouring a workaround that isn't correctly modeled to the part but, I'm hoping there's a different solution rather than this to stop from continuing the workaround. You're help is much appreciated in advance!

Hi, In regards to your first question about tool angle. You can create a sketch in the Design environment and then use that for your tool orientation. For Example:

And in regards to your second question, You are selecting the correct line as the contour and the form tool compensation point is correct. The problem is that your bottom height setting was wrong. Make sure it is set to "Selected Contours" as shown. This should fix that issue.

I hope that works for you! If not, please let me know.
