Hello, I am having an issue with the preload tool function on my Haas VM-2. In the post properties tab, I will have the preload tool option checked, and what happens is that it puts the next tool callout after the tool is in position to lead into a cut. What this does is causes the machine to stop movement of the axis and starts positioning the carousel to preload the next tool, and then immediately start the cut once the next tool is in position. This makes it difficult when doing first runs of parts, because I need to guess when the next tool is about to be in position and the machine will start cutting.
Here's an example of where the preload tool callout ends up in the G-code:
N30 T32 M6
<--- From what I understand, the T38 callout should be under this line
N35 S10000 M3
N40 G17 G90 G94
N45 G55
N50 M8
N55 G0 X-1.4044 Y-5.1433
N60 G43 Z1.33 H32
N65 T38
I'm running a 2021 VF4SS and using the generic NGC post. My code looks exactly like yours with the next tool command on the line after the G43. I don't have any issues with machine pausing though, maybe you have a parameter in the control that needs to be changed?
I have searched the settings on the haas website as well as on my machine and cannot find any setting like that unforutnately.
I also thought I should add that my machine is equipped with the 50-tool side mount tool changer. I don't know if that makes a difference, but I thought it might be worth adding.
50 tool magazine won't have any impact on this.
I agree with @Chris_Townsley , this sounds like a control issue, not code issue. I'd suggest calling your HFO and asking them what's up
can confirm, does not cause a pause on our machines.
