From CAM to CAD model

Hey guys,

I am faxing a problem, milling the surface and plunge line of some of my knives. I am using a 25R5 torus mill (kind of, I do not know the propper english wording) in order to mill the knife chamfer surfaces. Using a R5 leads to nice plunge lines. BUT: in order to get nice and smooth finishes, the mill needs to run in long, parallel straight tool pathes/lines (as you can see in the pictures). I use an additional surface as a reference for the mill, so not the actual model because as much as I am trying, I can not get the CAD model correct, so the toolpath is going to turn out the way I need it to be. If I select the actual model as reference for the job, it creates a non uniformly tool path and the surface finish is not that good anymore.

So is there a way to use the simulation model from CAM to create a CAD model? Or can you guys help me fixing the actual CAD model or the way the plunge line needs to be designed?

I know it is kind of a mess what I am trying to tell you... I hope you still understood. Thanks guys!

First of all, you should always attach your export (*.f3d) file, otherwise it is difficult to evaluate it.

Then you should post in German in the German forum. Not because no one else understands you, but because you si sure to reach more people in the forum.

There is a very good English F360 CAM forum where there are many CAM experts. You will surely get more help there.

About your actual problem.
I still don't understand why you don't use the (reference) surface directly for milling, but why you absolutely want to use the model.
If I have not misunderstood you, you want to use the result of the simulation as a CAM model.
You can save it after the simulation and insert it as a mesh into a project, where you can use it as a CAM model.

However, I can't say in general whether you will achieve different results.
