Post Processor and Machine Simulation What’s New
Looking for the latest post processors and machines updates? Look no further!
We are continually working hard to bring you updates and improvements to the many open-source Post Processors and Machines we offer for free, but those updates often get lost in the shuffle of other enhancements or big feature releases. This post aims to update you on newly added or improved post processors and machines, so you can stay up to date on what you use today or look for news so you can get the most out of Fusion.
This post will get refreshed with notable updates as they’re released, and you can click each hyperlink to go to the mentioned post. As always, you can find the latest in our post processor offering on the Online Post Library where you can search by vendor, type, or name, and see any recent changes to each post processor.

1. Improved Post Processors
We are always working to keep post processors up to date with new technologies. This is a summary of the main improvements made to post processors already in the library.
Generic Post Processors
Fixed potentially missing Z coordinate output when using the 'Safe start all operations' option.
Mill-Turn Post Processors
Fixed the default value of the 'Transfer type' property in the Samsung mill-turn Fanuc post processor.
Waterjet/Laser/Plasma Post Processors
Added the "Write Version" property to the Avid CNC Plasma post processor.
Additive Post Processors
The FFF additive post processors have been updated to ensure that the High Feedrate mapping method is set to 'Preserve rapid movement’.
Added support for the MK4 and XL printers to the Prusa post processor.
Intermediate Post Processors
Updated JSON advanced post processor to support for imperial units.
2. New Machines
The Machine Library lets you manage your machine tools by using Machine Configurations to define your available machines and resources. These configurations can automate the settings in your Job Setup.
There are many Machine Configurations available in the standard library.
Milling Machines
You will have available configuration files for some of the leading machine manufacturers:
The easiest way to get started, is to copy an existing configuration that matches some of the characteristics of your machine.

6. Workholdings Library Update
The Workholding library lets you add a workholding equipment (vise, table, tombstone, etc.) to a manufacturing model. Those can be found in the "CAM Samples" project folder that you can find in the Autodesk Fusion data panel:
We are pleased to announce that Fusion configuration capabilities are now available for files in the Workholding folder. These are used when a single component is designed with multiple arrangements. Currently, configured designs are defined in 5th Axis, Haas, Fast Mill, Lang, Mate and SCHUNK files. Configured designs are applied to a single model number where it may be beneficial to capture multiple ways the part could be used.
Newly configured designs are identified in the Fusion Data panel by an “orange cube with arrow” icon , rather than the simple “orange cube”:
The user can change the active configuration in the file by clicking on a drop down menu in the Browser design tree. To control a configured vise, a jaw width control parameter has been built into the configuration tables. The control parameter will change the jaw opening to match the gripping distance entered, or the user can still join the part to the jaws graphically.
We released these to simplify the existing vises in CAM Samples, making the model numbers more visible and the menus more streamlined, while still offering the same number of design arrangements for clamping simulation.
7. New Workholdings
3 Vises
1 clamp
36 components
4 plates
8. Tools and Tool Holders
The Tool Library lets you manage tools for Milling, Turning, Cutting (waterjet, laser & plasma), Touch Probes and Holders. The Tool Library lets you manage libraries of predefined tools and project documents.
ISCAR - Solid End Mills Metric, ISCAR -Solid End Mills Imperial
ISCAR's solid end mills. This library of solid carbide end mill contains the full assortment of ISCAR'S solid carbide milling solutions for application in all material types.
9. Post Processor Ideas
To make our library more varied and complete, we are always working on new post processors. Some of them still need more testing before being released in the public library. Every new Beta post processor is announced in the Idea Station, you can find all of them in the Post Processor Idea Station.
Please note that if you choose to use one of these post processors, you assume all inherent risk in using it and we ask that you proceed with caution.
That being said, we are looking forward to get your feedback!
