Full Error:

Error: Sketch Sketch16 has no closed profiles for NestResult
Error: Cannot get the geometries for the selected component: LS Mid Left:1/LS Mid Left. A planar face is required to be arranged.

This is a curious piece.  It worked in an earlier version of the model. But I went back and straightened a few things in the T-Splines.  And now I'm getting this curious error on one half of an apparently symetrical object (modelled with T-Splines mirrored and then split).  The other half operates with no problems.   And I haven't

I can put a hole in the curved face and it does go to the surface - but offsets to that hole in the surface (and overlaps in the full model.)

If I remove the inside faces in the original model (ie: remove the loft that performed the cut operation to create the concave surfaces) I am still getting the errors.

I did see in the original model that it was creating non-symetrical lofts based on the offsets of the symmetrical halves.  I would have to select a different number of faces inside one half compared to the other half. Unsure if that matters after discovering that the error still exists when the loft that created the concave faces has been removed.

Thoughts?

Many thanks!

There are also no sketches named "Sketch16." Wondering if that would be the name of the sketch when its drawn on the bottom of the model before its sorted.

@allister_mcrae

Which command do you get the problem? Arrange?

and can you share the model which you don't get problem?

in fact I couldn't see the error message, this is the result i got: (partly was put in the sheet area, depends on the geometry, the logic is, get the max-area face, then project model to the face; we need to dig into the model if there is problem)

Its kinds of hard to see in my screencast, but what it came down to was that some of projected shapes had more points along a path than the shape at one end.  Basically the Loft was appearing "square" and consistent visually (perhaps because the model was black - maybe I'll go to wireframe next time), but wasn't.

I removed the multiple segment attachment points and put a straight line from one side of a projection to another.

Edit - apparently I don't know how to attache a screencast. Will have to manually check: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast/44154fbb-3d97-4123-bdd7-ffbe21d3544b

Hi @AmyLiu ,

Thanks for taking time to look at this model. I had included the small hole in this particular model (I think). Best guess is that it was showing up as ok because of that.

Also note how in your image the part is centered on a corner of your sheet. So 3/4s of the part would not have material available 🙂

I did resolve it by changing some shapes to match the number of points used by a loft function.

Please see my other post for the resolution.

Thanks again!

I think you got the correct solution to resolve the problem. pretty cool. and you're right, the closed profile should be required to generate the shape for arrange/nesting.

@allister_mcrae

Glad you have found a solution to resolve the "not closed profile..." problem.

and for the part which was put only about 1/4 to the sheet, it's an issue need to be fixed, team is trying to fix ASAP. thanks for your feedback.

I'm having the exact same issue. Here is my model. Any clues please?

@kevinGG4T7 thanks for sharing your file. I've taken a look at it and it's not clear to me why things are going awry. I've forwarded this file to the Nesting team, hopefully I can have some answers for you before too long.

I'm getting this issue a lot, so I would appreciate the team letting me know what, if anything, I'm doing wrong! I resolved this particular instance of the error by re-starting the project from new, but I can't keep doing that.  Thank you.

Here is another file that I'm having exactly the same issue with. Could you please pass it to the technical team to see what's going on? I need to do this kind of work everyday, so it is frustrating to have the tool not work. If I'm doing something wrong, let me know and I can fix my process. Thanks

Hi there, have the tech team been able to look at this yet? Thanks

I'm having the same issue. A mesh that was converted into a solid via the organic conversion, was split into different pieces, and I wanted to arrange that in a flat surface. I get the same error as above.
