Cutter comp when working with slots.

See the attached part file.  But for the slot I'm roughing with the slotting option and when I come back to finish it with pocketing, I also tried contour I can not seem to get enough room for cutter comp.  The operation works fine so long as its off.  Any way to turn cutter comp on above the part and then have it go into the slot and turn off once its above the slot? Or control how much space its using to move off and on for cutter comp.

Thanks

I was scratching my head for a few minutes on this one. Typically, just tweaking the lead-in/out values should be enough. Your slot minus your cutters allows you .015" of extra room. Setting the lead-in radius to 0 and lead in length to .005 should do the trick.

It didn't. So I pondered for a bit, took a sip of coffee.

It's your Compensation Radius Allowance, found on the Passes tab. It defaults to 5% of the cutter value, so it was pushing it outside of the allowable room. Set to a small value, such as .005 and it processes as it should
