Contour selection order in 2D contour

1. How can I implement a desired order to cut out elements from a sheet? The 2D contour startegy has a “Preserve order” option on the Passes tab, which allows me to cut elements in a selected order. However, when I have hundreds of elements, it becomes a complex task. Is there an option to automatically select the desired order? For instance, can the order of elements be selected based on their X or Y coordinate?

2. The 2D contour has an option for “Preferred Lead-In position”, which allows me to select a point from a sketch. However, it only allows me to select one point. How can I select all the points of the sketch?

1) The only way to machine these parts in a specific order is thru manual selection and "Preserve Order". Automated selection and ordering can sometimes yield an ordering method that's different than what we expect or prefer

2) For entry points, it's also manual selection, one at at time.

One suggestion; since these parts are all identical, you might have better luck programming up on part and then using a Pattern > Duplication to copy the toolpath across the rest of them:

Thank you for prompt reply! "For entry points, it's also manual selection, one at at time" - I think this is the thing that must be implemented. What do you think?

"Must" is a strong word. There are many things that should be implemented, and it's always a tough call for the product managers.

I can see the value in it, I'll look to see if there's a ticket for this improvement suggestion.

I did not find an open task on this issue, so I've opened up CAM-46046 to investigate the possibility of selecting a sketch to drive your Entry Positions
