Cloud posts not syncing with team

I'm having some issues with this. From reading some other related posts I don't think I'm the only one. I tried a full restart of the system. My entire team is having this issue.

Hi -

The local ones aren't synching up to the Cloud?

Can you send me your diagnostic logs? You can get access to these from the Help menu.

Thanks,

  Jeff

The team hub appears to be in sync but in the app the posts aren't showing up to date even after a full restart. I'll send the log over in a few.

Out of curiosity, what's in the "Archived" folder?

We just had some posts we probably wont be using anymore and I dumped them in there. It's helpful for debugging if I need to go back and compare scrips since I'm not always on my local machine. I could move those to google drive or something but figured I'd keep it in the same place. Does having a folder in the default asset folders cause problems?

It shouldn't. I was just curious of whether the files that aren't being synched are actually in that folder, and so are considered to already exist.

Curious: if you move those files out of the Cloud posts (cache) folder, then put them back in, does that "kick" anything?

We're not seeing errors in the logs, for what that's worth.

Here's one suggestion/idea from one of the developers in this area:

"It would be interesting to see his ‘Autodesk Fusion 360/%ID%/W.login/M/index.xml’ file.  To kick start things, you could also try renaming this file.  That should cause the MDS to treat the local cache (under the project id folders in the M folder) as new and compare it against the cloud folders."

This may be something to poke at.

No luck. I removed everything from the camposts assets folder in the browser. I then moved just the two posts back in and the drop down in the "Post Process" dialogue still doesn't reflect the files shown in the camposts assets folder. I quickly went through all my settings and made sure to toggle cam libraries off and on again as well as the team selection. Still no luck.

Hmmm. I'm scratching my head here.

I wonder if it works the other way -- if you upload a post into the folder in A360, does it show up locally?

Thanks,

  Jeff

So just ran through this real quick.

troubleshoot 1:

closed fusion

moved everything in M to a zip (same as deleting it)

moved the folder of old posts to a project folder (out of assets)

reopened fusion

still not reflecting only whats in the CAMposts folder. The post config drop down includes even the files moved out of the assets.

troubleshoot 2:

deleted the cache from "M" again

deleted the folder of old posts i had moved

the two remaining posts in the assets folder disappeared for some odd reason (wtf)

I reopen fusion

cache is populated with no cam posts

no cam posts in drop down post config (it doesn't like that)

troubleshoot 3:

I reupload only the two files to the CAMposts assets folder

delete cache

reopen fusion

cache is populated with the two cam posts

two posts are shown in drop down

Seems to be that there was some syncing issues. It also looks like fusion fishes for anything with the cps extension through all the project folders. That kind of defeats the purpose of having an assets folder though. I'll keep an eye out as we get more posts up. Most of the team has left for the day so I'm not going to be able to see if things updated correctly for everyone until tomorrow.

Also, We're using fusion team to share projects between the group. All our work is done in team. We don't use A360 because we need to be able to share assets like posts and cam libraries.

OK, so this Assets folder is a shared project in a Fusion Team hub, it sounds like -- which is good. And you say that everyone is seeing the same thing.

This isn't a personal Assets folder, shared with others, is it?

Everyone is working in the team hub and editing and using assets from that. I don't have anything in my personal folder. I think the syncing issue is partially when things are deleted from the CAMposts assets folder. The local cache hangs onto it and doesn't reflect what files are actually in the CAMposts folder on the cloud.

Troubleshoot 4:

close fusion

delete cache

delete contents of CAMposts assets folder in browser

open fusion

no posts in config dropdown

close fusion

upload a few posts in browser to CAMposts

open fusion

cache is created

posts listed in config dropdown

close fusion

delete all posts again for CAMposts assets folder in browser only

open fusion

posts still listed in config dropdown  <--- cache didn't update

..and in reality all this closing and opening fusion to update cache shouldn't be necessary but just taking it one step at a time here.

To elaborate my understanding of the assets folder since you mentioned that before too. Correct me if I'm wrong. The Assets folder functions a little differently than just a shared project folder because it's the only cloud location for CAM information directly accessible from fusion. Unlike a project folder that holds parts and assemblies but is a solo entity, the Assets folder is more so part of Fusion in the way that "cloud" data only pulls from the Assets folder and can't from anywhere else. That is really the only reason to get a Team Hub, to have collaboration of the core assets. Right now "cloud" libraries are pretty much only geared towards CAM but I imagine with the way it's setup that will be expanded to including other things too.

Thanks for the specific steps. I *think* I'm seeing the same thing, but my system is having update problems, so it could be something different. Can you share your logs again -- or at least just the log file from this session, if you can identify it?

Thanks,

  Jeff

There definitely seems to be an issue here -- Fusion is not doing its "rescan" when it starts up.

Can you see if running the text command "wipmds.rescan" triggers the local updates?

Thanks,

  Jeff

My cloud posts are also out of sync and I'm not doing any team work. There are four posts in my Assets folder and none of them show up when I try to post my part. Instead, two posts that I deleted from the assets are all I see.

Can you try sending your Fusion Diagnostic Logs, and I can take a look?

Also, please see if the "wipmds.rescan" text command has any effect.

Thanks,

  Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I clicked the Diagnostic Log Files on the Help menu and got an error popup stating 'Gathering of diagnostic logs failed'. I know the logs are stored somewhere on my computer but I don't know where. (I'm running Win 10).

Where and how do I execute "wipmds.rescan"?

Ken

Wow, I've never heard of that before!

The logs are stored in %localappdata%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<userid>\logs, in timestamped files. Feel free to just send me a couple of those that were during the time at, or after, you made these changes.

Jeff
