CAM Assets folder empty after Fusion Update

After the update to version 2.0.5278, I noticed that when creating a new setup in the Manufacture environment, I couldn't select a machine for the milling operation. The option in the preferences under Preview, Manufacture Workspace - Machine Configurations was still checked however. (Having a deja-vu here from the UI-Preview issues). Also opening previous projects in which I selected the appropriate machines in the setup, only showed the "milling" option under Operation Type. Like the issue with the UI-preview I thought unchecking the "Manufacture Workspace - Machine Configurations"-option, closing Fusion after signing off and restarting Fusion, checking the "Manufacture Workspace - Machine Configurations" again and restarting would resolve the issue, but no luck. Creating a new setup only shows the Operation Type. The ability to select which machine to use is gone somehow. Closed Fusion without signing off, logged off from my pc, waited half an hour and restarted Fusion. Created a new project, and a CAM setup. Now the option to select a machine was back, but the UI-preview was missing. So, deselecting the UI-preview in the preferences, closed and restarted Fusion, enabled the UI-preview, closed (without signing off) and restarted Fusion. UI-preview was visible, but the option to select a machine in a CAM setup is gone again.....Man Frustrated

But the worst of all is, my Assets folder is empty. All my posts, machines, tools and templates are gone. Hours of work to create them, all down the drain. Man Mad

Reinstalled Fusion. At first the ability to select a machine wasn't there although the 'Manufacture'- options in the preferences were checked. Followed steps below.

1. Opened preferences

2. Unchecked the 'Manufacture'-options on the Preview page

3. Clicked OK. (waited for the message "Options will be synched to the cloud momentarily" to disappear)

4. Opened preferences

5. Checked the manufacture options on the Preview page again

6. Clicked OK (waited for the message "Options will be synched to the cloud momentarily" to disappear), and voila, now I can select a machine again.

7. Closing Fusion without signing off

8. Restarting Fusion --> and gone again is the ability to select a machine.....

I have to repeat steps 1 to 6 to be able to select a machine every time I start Fusion.

To summarize after update:

1. No machines to select in CAM setup, unless I dis- and re-enable the options in the preferences

2. Assets folder empty, all tools, templates, machines and post processors gone...

Autodesk, HELP! Is there a possibility to recover my Assets folder (backup)? For now that's the most important thing to me.

1) Are you on a Team Hub?

2) If you go to your A360 drive (click on your name in the Data Panel), do you still see the Assets folder there?

Hi Seth,

Thanks for your reply. I'm on my own hub. Clicking on my name on the data panel in Fusion sends me to my own A360 hub. The Assets folder is there, but as mentioned, all the subfolders (CAMPosts, CAMMachines, CAMTemplates, CAMTools) are empty, yesterday they were not.

That's not good.

Can you export and attach your diagnostic files, they might be of help to tech support. You can find that at the top right:

Hi -

Sorry you're having problems.

For the machine stuff: The preferences dialog actually ends up controlling some lower-level "feature flags". You can use the "CAM.Featureflags" text command to show a dialog with the lower-level options. The "Machine Configurations" and "Additive" preferences actually end up controlling a set of lower-level feature flags, relating to machine configurations, additive capabilities, as well as "context-senstive toolbars". The latter is what tries to limit the toolbar buttons to those appropriate to the machine (operation type) associated with the active setup. See how these are set for you. When you turn off one of the preferences, it likely will not turn off the secondary feature flags that are related to the top-level capability.

As for your assets, not quite sure. Do you not see them in the side panel/web view at all? Did they disappear right after the update? Would be nice to get your diagnostic logs to see what might have happened. I've verified that there isn't a fundamental problem with the update; my assets content shows up fine on both Mac and Windows.

Here are my log-files...

Hello Jeff. What you're telling is absolute abracadabra for me. Where do I type the commands?

Not sure when exactly the Assets folder was emptied. Must have happened between yesterday evening and restarting Fusion after the update this morning.

Thanks for the logs. As far as the "abracadabra" goes, if you show the text command window using "Ctrl-Alt-C" (view->text commands in the file menu), you have access to an area where you can enter the "cam.featureflags" command (make sure that "txt" is enabled on the right hand side). This will show you a list of available feature flags, and what I wrote will make more sense.

We'll take a look at the logs, and see if anything pops out.

OK, so if you turn off "context-aware-menus", that will make all of the possible commands show up in the toolbar, instead of being tied to the active machine. This will probably get reenabled by the "additive" feature at startup, so it probably makes sense to turn that off to.

I do see things happening in the logs -- around 12:01 today (not sure which time zone that is) -- where the system seemed to notice that a file was deleted from the Cloud. I don't know why that would be. Do you recall whether you (or someone else with access to the project) may have been doing anything with those files, either on the local machine or in the Cloud folders?

We may have to check with some other folks to see if they can tell what may have triggered the deletion if you're not aware of anything that was going on at the time to trigger this.

It should also be possible to recover those file, though this has tended to be a more involved process that would be ideal.

The timezone is western Europe, I live in the Netherlands. Jeff, do you point to the AppLogFile20190110T120122.log? Indeed I see some lines in which is stated "Folder Watcher File Deleted message: " with the names of all the assets that I lost.... I don't recall deleting all of these consciously, because I spent so much time creating them, that wouldn't be wise. I'm the only user with access to my hub. Recovering the files would be very welcome.

One thing to look for:

(Assuming Windows)

If you go into %localappdata%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\<long user id>\W.login\M, there should be a "backup" folder. Can you see what's in there? There could be various subdirectories in there (I'm not sure exactly what those subdirectories represent).

Thanks,

  Jeff

Can you tell me the URL you see when you go into the web view of the assets project in your hub? This would look like something along the lines of:

  https://myhub.autodesk360.com/ue29cd89d/g/projects/D2017012059643201/data/dXJuOmFkc2sud2lwcHJvZDpmcy...

Thanks,

They would actually be above and to the side of that. What folders do you see under "M"?

I'm not sure what you want to do with the URL of my hub. This is a part of the URL, left out a few of the last characters.

Got it. Thanks. The reason I asked for this is because I'm asking some folks who handle the back-end to help identify what may have happened, as well as to try to recover the files that have been deleted.
