A Whole Slew of Very Specific Questions

Hi Everyone --

I've been getting into Fusion 360 over the last few months and (mostly) everything has been going smoothly. I have some specific questions that I hope can be answered. Some may be bugs, some may be me still trying to get used to Fusion. Before this, I was working on a mixture of Mastercam and OneCNC.

1) Toolpaths still generate inside of bores even after patching. Is there a way around this so that Fusion can read the faces without it being solid part? I otherwise have to select every single patch as well as "include setup model" if I want it to work correctly, and this can take up a load of time when there are hundreds of holes on a part.

2) Is it possible to remove the "whole body" selection when picking surfaces for boundaries and/or touch/avoid surfaces? I never want to avoid/touch the whole body, so I don't see why it gets highlighted as an option before finally selecting my correct face/surface.

3) Noobie question--Is it possible to create multiple surface patches at once?

4) When copy-->pasting toolpaths from different setups, sometimes the cycle that was copied from the original setup loses its toolpath, even if it's a protected operation. Is there a way to prevent this?

5) How do I de-select already selected boundary lines when creating a boundary? Ctrl+Click does not remove the line(s).

6) Why are some lines un-clickable when creating a boundary? (This may have to do with the model, I'll ask our Solidworks dpt as well)

7) Is there a way to make setting the "home" view work simultaneously on both the "Model" and the "CAM" tabs at the same time?

8) Is there a way to default all of the drop-down menus on the "Heights" tab to "Model Top?"

Even if you can only answer one question, I appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

1) You will need to select the patch(s) when you are in your 3D surfacing operation. If you have hundreds of them, you may want to consider duplicating your model and omitting the holes. Use that model for your surfacing instead.

2) Super annoying, isn't it?? I think this might be a question for @porsbym. Mark, why do we have the option to select the whole body? Super annoying and requires more mouse precision, or lots of select/de-select

3) No. One at a time. And you WILL like it!

4) Intended, I believe. Really, what you are copying are the parameters of the cutting and whatnot. You SHOULD have to reselect certain features, such as contour and heights

5) Could you provide an example?

6) See #5

7) Unsure, I've not had need

8) Yes. Right click on an operation and click Compare and Edit. At the bottom, type in Height. You can right click on each field and select "Make Default":

Thank you for the quick response, Seth. I'll get a better description of #5 and #6 when I get home from work.

I can see why #2 is annoying when you are trying to select smaller faces. It's not CAM specific (try selecting objects for Mirror), but I will see what we can do about this.

For #5 are you by any chance referring to the issue in this post? It will be fixed in the very next update due soon - promise. In the meantime, try the workaround described in the linked post. This is assuming that this is what you are referring to of course. If not, we'd be very happy to see example files.

For #6 it would also be great with example files.

Regarding 2) Hold down the mouse if you're having issues selecting a single face and select it from the pop-up list. This is a little more time consuming but way less irritating (to me at least) than select/deselect games.

6) This is a bug or bad geometry issue. Sometimes using things like G2 fillets fixes it over "normal" fillets, but obviously that's a bug situation. I believe this was documented as a ticket already.
