4th Axis Simultaneous

Hello all. I am Drawing a simple slot in a 3.5 tube. So I need 4th axis simultaneous action. Should I use 2d pocket and "wrap" or Rotary Contour? I have tried both and runs fine in Simulation but at the machine I end up with a hole with chamfers on each end with the way the rotary rotates and my xyz move with it.

Hi, Can you share your file here?

Goto File>Export>Save as .f3d/.f3z

Also what is your Machine and controller?

And which post processor are you using?

If they work fin in simulation but not at the machine its possible that you have your WCS set incorrectly

I believe the problem is the Fanuc post I was using. At first it all rotory movements where set to "false" in the post configs. For a straight slot I would imagine Y axis shouldn't move much at all while Baxis (Rotary in my case) should rotate the proper amount to achieve geometry. Right now my y pretty much follows B creating a hole with extremely beveled sides in the y- and y+ .

As above, can you share your file here?

Which machine are you using, which controller, how is the rotary mounted?

With the limited information you have provided its near impossible to determine the issue

Also you say the Y shouldn't move much which would be true for a rotary mounted along the X axis(A axis) but you say you have a B axis which would be along Y

It is a FLEX CNC GRD series Omron Flex CNC Controller. We have 2 rotaries table mounted which on this machine are A and B. Head is XYZ
They are a small company so I guess that's why there is no FLEX CNC post available or machine to download into Fusion. We were told the Fanuc Generic post should work but we aren't having any luck with it. Drill holes on pipe work fine but 4th axis simultaneous such as milling slots have been the problem. Do you know how it works to have a post made for a machine or be able to download our machine to fusion? I now know there is nothing wrong with file , works fine on our Hurco machine but fusion has a Hurco post.

Hi

Thanks for the information.

Your setup looks correct for an A axis output, can you confirm the rotary in this case is Along X? and that it is using letter B, this would be very unusual and would require some post customization OR the better option is to use a Machine Definition:

https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=MFG-MACHINE-DEFINITION

There you can change the letter output of the axis easily if that is indeed the case.

You can create Two machine definitions one for each option with the different rotaries.

If you can get the Machine Model From Flex you could build up a machine Simulation model to go with the Definition too.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?guid=MFG-MACHINE-BUILDER-OVERVIEW

If this sound like its a bit too much, there are resellers than can help you configure all of this, you can find them here:

Here is a pic... Rotary on the right is indeed Baxis there is another rotary on the opposite side of the machine which is Aaxis. I have written my own little program to make sure it all works and it does. I have made some changes in Fanuc code and have got my Baxis to work simultaneously now but the geometry is still off.

Hi

It appears the picture has not attached?

Use the Picture button to insert  images:

I can't see any reason why the Fusion Code wouldn't work, there must be something I'm missing though

Can you show a picture of the  incorrect result you are getting at the machine too?
