where will my cut start?

very new to fusion and coming from vcarve. used to setting my zero in the lower left corner of my table (4x8 cnc router) and telling vcarve to move drawing 1" in on x and y axis (literally see it on screen) and know that my bit will start cutting at that location.

how do i tell fusion to do the same thing? i realize i can select a point on the model to locate wcs but where is that in relation to the edges of my table? is there a way to see that? also i saw something about wcs offsets and gcode #s (total greek to me) dont use any of that in vcarve so if thats how to fix this im lost.

help?

You can do the same thing with fusion in the setup (VCP job setup), job size(VCP) is ever a solid model or what you set in the stock tab(fusion),

Z Zero position(VCP) WCS on the setup tab you set what is Z (top surfaces) then your orientate X or Y then you use the origin and whatever selection you make to set the Zero point XY datum position (VCP).

If you home the machine to X, Y-front left with the Z-axis almost at the top of its travel and the corner of the material is 100X 100Y away you set the work zero there like normal and as long as the setup in fusion is set at the same spot it should be fine when you do the tool paths you can see where the start and the end position is.

@daniel_lyall i think im still confused. you mention setting the work zero (not familiar with that term).

any chance you could do a screencast and put a part 1" in from edge of table in the x & Y axis and show what needs set to start cutting it?

in my current setup i never change zero location on the machine and only tell vcarve where to start cutting my drawing and it moves the router to that location when the job starts

you mention setting the work zero like normal. I never change my zero on the physical machine. In vcarve I tell the drawing where it is at on the table and when the job starts it moves the router to the part and starts cutting

any chance if you have a minute some time you could do a screencast and show what needs to be set to cut a part 1" inboard of the tables edge in the X & Y axis.

I am used to putting 4x8 sheets of material down and cutting parts out of it so im still very much a newbie on the idea of locating a model to a specific point to have it cut . Im keen to learn though!
