Strange to me I don't see any results searching for this. It's come up a few times for me.

 

Here's an example of numerous through-holes which I do not want to select individually each time the design changes. I want the 2D Pocket job to simply use "pocket recognition" but it doesn't.

 

If I cut a large (50mm) hole in the piece, the pocket recognition feature will "see" that hole.

 

It will not however see the small (7mm) holes.

 

If I manually select hole profiles it will cut them, so it doesn't appear to be something about the linking.

Instead of putting up loads of images please upload a file, then folks can test properly.

It seems to work fine here, see image below.

One thing about the Pocket Recognition is that circular openings are classed as "Holes" so you need to have those selected, other shapes will be recognised without the Holes option selected, in the image there is a 9mm, a 7mm and a 50mm hole and a small rectangular pocket, all select here OK.

 

To upload a file go to :-

File > Export > Select f3d format > Save to a location on your computer > Then attach it to your reply.

If someone had asked me yesterday if we can make actual FILES from Fusion I would have laughed and told them it's all in the cloud. Thank you. I've attached it here.

Right, looked at you file and it looks to be down to the way you created your holes, I gave up on yours and just created a new block next to yours, then created a single hole and used the "Pattern" facility to create the rest of the holes.

 

Created a new stock for the new model and then created a 2D Pocket, selected your original tool and Plunge type entry and selected the "Pocket Recognition" option and all the holes were recognised and toolpathed, see image below and attached modified file 🙂 🙂

Oooo ok I see thanks still trying to figure out my way here. An outsider would be tempted to post in Support because it's described as "Report issues, bugs, and or unexpected behaviors you’re seeing."

 

We don't absolutely need a fix for this bug because there are a handful of other operations that will do the job. However, this would be very frustrating for someone with even a little less knowledge or persistence.

 

Also, oddly there aren't any google results for "Pocket recognition did not find any pockets" maybe that's a new string.

Looked at this again with more time and here is what I have, may help you with your conversation with the Developers 🙂

 

It would appear that the reason I haven`t come across this "bug" is that I use Solids to create Models whenever possible.

 

The "bug" is to do with the use of Sketches, to be exact the way the Sketch is Extruded, if I use @200_ok  original file and instead of Extruding in a Positive direction I do it in a Negative direction then it works fine in Manufacture so it means that a small "workaround" of Extruding in the Negative direction is the answer for now.

It doesn`t seem to be related to where the Z Zero is located as if I then move the Model either up or down the Holes are recognised correctly 🙂 🙂

All about the Negative direction Extrusion of Sketches, that IMHO is what needs fixing, creating a Solid Model by Extruding in a Positive direction works OK 🙂 🙂 🙂

 

Sketches have always been a pain which is why I avoid them if I possibly can !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
