Warning: Lifting retract height to safe height.

I am getting this warning: 

Warning: Lifting retract height to safe height.

I don't quite understand why it is happening. I know that it doesn't matter and my operation will run fine but I like to clear any warnings etc on my toolpaths. 

It's with the Pocket Clearing Feature and some screenshots are attached below. I've tried messing around with quite a few variables but can't clear the warning.

Could someone explain exactly why this warning occurs and how to fix it. Thanks

It is what it says it is, you have a "Safe" height of 10mm in the "Linkings" tab and only a 2mm "Retract" height in the Heights tab.

Either change the "Safe" 10mm to something below the"Retract" height or make the Retract a bigger value and the "Safe" smaller, just mix `n match till you get rid of the warning 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion and quick response.  Unfortunately, it didn't remove the warning.

Slightly annoying but what I have found is if you increase the "retract" value on the heights tab this warning typically goes away.. I normally increase this from .050 to .100.

What really I guess makes no sense, is I like to set the "safe distance" to .050 and set my "feed height" to .010 and I always get that warning also.. In a way, I guess Fusion is correct... but like @seth.madore says.. this area could for sure be more intuitive.

There is no safe height setting in the linking tab, it's missing.

I'd be looking at your Minimum Stay Down Clearance. Otherwise, please share your Fusion file here so we can see what's going on

@gtprototype , I overlooked that there is no safe distance in 2D Adaptive.. Sorry to confuse..

@seth.madore , I see in the fly-out box that the "Minimum stay-down clearance" is shown:

The on-line help file is worded differently:

I believe that is the safe distance the tool will stay away from the walls of what was previously cut with the tool..? maybe Fusion somehow uses that in the axial calculation also? Maybe another one of Fusion's less than perfect terminology for describing a function.....I know my defaults are .050 minimum stay-down and .100 for retract and this seems to work for me.

@gtprototype It might be one of those things where you have to find what combination works and set that for your defaults.

How great would it be if somewhere in the tabs field there was an icon "?" or "Help" that would link to a help file showing all of the fields in that dialog...

This is maddening, there is no safe height setting!  I don't want to get into the cavalier habit of clicking through warnings.  I would like to resolve this issue without setting my feed heights excessively high.

@gtprototype No, but there is a Minimum Stay Down Clearance, I suspect that's involved in your warning. Could you share your file?

Hmmm, from what I can see there is no "Feed Height" for the 2D ADaptive and the seems to be a "Magic" 2mm/0.079in setting somewhere in the bowels of the 2D Adaptive that will produce the error if these values or a value below this setting is used.

Just where it comes from would appear to be known only to the Developers 🙂

So, anything above those values for example 2.1mm/0.08in will result in no error so that is a pretty small "Minimum Retract Value" for want of a better description IMHO 🙂

Workaround for now 🙂

I got my model into a green state and then tried setting: min stay down, min clearance, ramp clearance to ridiculous values (10x retract height). This did not produce a warning.

this should be a bug with the following fix:

- change the error to clarify that retract height must be greater than 2mm. "Safe height" should not be mentioned in the warning since this is not a parameter that exists for adaptive clearing.

- document how the 2 mm is calculated

- provide a way to change the value
