Using Multiple work offsets in the same setup.

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick question here, does anyone know of a way of getting multiple work offsets in the same setup?

I'm aware that you can make a new setup and use a different work offset and then highlight both setups and post together.

However I work at a company who is use to using a different work offset for each one of their B axis rotations on their horizontals.

ie: B 00.0 on the tombstone is G54.1 P1

     B 90.0 on the tombstone is G54.1 P2

    B180.0 on the tombstone is G54.1 P3

and so on

They do this because we work with a lot of extrusion material and we need the machining to line up with the extrusions and a lot of the time B90 needs to be a few thou different from the B0.0 and so on.

Currently I am making multiple setups however we are getting some very new programmers in here and I want things to go smoothly for them.

So it would be nice if we could have each operation in its own setup with the multiple work offsets within that setup.

Hopefully that all makes sense

Thanks!

Does selecting the "Multiple WCS" option in Setup not work for you ??

Within your setup, create folders (folders are 1 icon beside the setup icon I think, or very close to it).  In each folder you can change the work offset that it will output (double click the folder and check the option for that).  What's nice about this is that it is still inside the setup, so when you go to B90, it will output B90 properly.

I usually make 1 folder for each angle needed, set the work offset in the folder, and duplicate a bunch of times right away when the folder is empty, so that you don't end up having to delete your copied operations if you were to copy the folders when they are full.

Hope this is what you were after.

Hey @engineguy

Perhaps not, I was under the assumption that all that did is duplicate the tool paths with a deferent work offset. mainly used if you have the same part running in multiple vices or something similar, what I need is for the front, left side and right side of the same part to all have a different work offset in the same setup. Ill Create a dummy file with an idea of what Im looking for.

This is what I'm looking for! I use folders all the time just for organization, I never thought to try and right click and edit them,

Thanks for both of your guys help!

So , on this thread, on a setup when you create the wcs, if you select the  multiple setups checkbox this forces the post to create copies of your toolpaths for each wcs? first time programming with fusion here in an okuma ma600HIII, after posting my program out , im getting 4 copies of every tool path in my program. Is this "switch" whats doing it ?

If you have Multiple WCS enabled and a value greater than one, you will get duplicate toolpaths.
