Turning Profile

Hello, Mastercam has automatic creation of the turning profile of the part. Is there a method like this in Fusion? When I remove a curve from the profile in Fusion, the correct turning profile is not created.

There is a video on how to do it in Mastercam program in the link below.

No, that is not possible at this time. We're aware of the customer desire for this and are actively working on a solution.

Is there a specific part you're having issues with and would you be able/willing to share that file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply. If you can't share your file publicly, you are more than welcome to drop me a DM with a link to the file as well.

Hello,
I shared the file. I tried to create the turning profile, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted.

No, I can see why it did not turn out properly. What is your end goal with this sketch of the spun profile? (I'm wondering if there is a workaround I can point you towards, but it's helpful to know what you plan on doing with this data)

Imagine this lathe part is made of casting. The piece arrives 1mm larger than its overall dimensions. I want to program this track in Fusion. I want to make casting stock while creating stock. After creating the turning profile, I can create this stock by offset the profile.

Imagine a machine part malfunctions. The customer sent the 3D model of the part. But I need to revise the piece. For this, I need to remove the turning profile and make revisions. When creating lathe stock, my billet is the model the customer sent. The part I will program is the revised piece. The tool path will remove material according to the stock. Now, if I cannot create the turning profile of this part, I cannot make the revision, right?

When such requests come, the solution in Fusion should be simple and practical. Other CAM programs have such simple solutions. Why is it too late for such features or do program developers not know about them?

Your requests and expectations/needs make sense.

It's not that it's "too late" for such features or that the developers do not know about these features. It's a matter of resources and priorities.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread; the dev teams are aware of this shortcoming and are actively working on a solution...

Thank you for your understanding. If there is anything you would like to learn about myself and the CAM industry, you can DM me. I would be happy to provide ideas and support in the development of the Fusion program.

Just to give you a sneak peak into what we're working on, here's the Sketch Spun Profile (in DXF form for now)

2024-02-13_18h30_12.png

I've attached the DXF if you wish to take a look at it. Bear in mind; nothing is constrained or dimensioned, as its lost the reference to the part. When it's all in one file, all the blue that you see above would actually be pink(ish), as it would be linked geometry.

Great. It would be nice to create such a turning profile.

It's closer to a reality in the software than its ever been. I don't have an exact date for when our customers will be able to do this, but it's most certainly not going to be years away!
