Trace Function using chamfer tool.

Hi - I was using the trace function to run a chamfer down a non 2d profile, when i set the sideways compensation to centre it works, all be it the centre line of the tool is on centre of the pathso not ideal, as i was after a little tip offset

When i select left climb milling it get an un know error.

 

Is this by design or is there a better way to chamfer down a 3d path?

If anyone else is trying to run this type of chamfer you can do it with a custom tool, but not a standard chamfer tool.

Just create a custom tool that looks like your chamfer tool.

You can then off-set it to the left or right without fusion throwing an error.Capture.JPG

You were getting the error because the tool had a zero point. If you make the tip even .005 it will offset fine.

ah yes just tried it, that must be why a custom tool worked as it ended up not being a zero point tool.

haha i though you had to use a custom tool Smiley Very Happy
