Toolpath facemilling step

I want to make a milling step like showing in the attachment 'facemilling step' with the red marked sketch-contour. The generated toolpath seems to be like desired(the toolpath is shown in the 'facemilling toolpath' screenshot). But while simulating, the rest stock material doesn't seem to be right(the specific area is marked with the red circle 'facemilling step fault'). It seems the sketched face geometry isn't recognized because of the offset in the rest stock material.

Is there a possibility to make this facemilling step with another approach like just selecting the 2 single seperated faces and combine them somehow, instead of drawing a sketched geometry ? I tried this without a succes to generate this desired toolpath

Thanks.

It looks like you have a radius on the tool and that's making the face operation cut farther than you want. I suspect because face is 2d only it's not looking at the model so it's just clearing the selected area. The easiest option would be to set the tool up with a sharp corner.

I checked the tool and it is sharp without a chamfer/radius at the edge. Is this the right approach for a 2D facemilling step or would be making a sketch to select the geometry area the best way to do this ?

Thanks

Here's an example file using 2d pocket. Not quite as nice as face but a bit more controllable.
