Tool Selection warning

When I select from my tool library, I can pick the tool and then the default preset for the different operations or materials like roughing, adaptive, finishing. But when I go to post it gives me an annoying warning that these are different tools and tool numbers when in fact they are not. It says I can ignore the warning, but sometimes I do use the warning to identify and tool situation with duplicate tool numbers so to disable it makes no sense. Am I doing the presets wrong?

Hi @vpace91423, can you send a screenshot of your document library for the part you're trying to post code for?

Tool 4 will output a warning. If I take the same setup and tell the T4 to be only finishing and not rough or adaptive, no warning. If I pick T4 adaptive and then t4 finish contour, the alarm comes up.

Can you send one of the tool library view for that document? Like below

I thought I had heard that there was a bug in this dialog there is already a fix out for, but I couldn't find the source for that info. I will check and get back to you or tag one of the team in

But, you are not using Presets incorrectly – what you're doing should be fine. It should not be an issue to use the same tool in two operations with different presets, there is either something else going on or there's a bug.

Hmmm, had a quick look at this and the only way that I am able to replicate the warning is to have more than a single instance of a particular tool in the Document Tool Library, if I have two or more then yes, I do have "duplicate" tools and the warning appears which is as it should be.

If I only have a single instance of a tool in the Library then I can use as many "Presets" as I like without any warnings, see the attached Screencast, it may explain what I am trying to say better than typing it out here 🙂

Rob,

I think you might be right. We always tend to go back to the tool library to dial in a tool since way back due to the fact we would get a tool cutting the way we want but it would only reside in the document and not the library. So default is to only go to the library for changes. This then probably duplicates the tool in the document causing the issue. I will take a look but I did see two #4 in this setup so you are probably correct. Thanks for looking into it.

@vpace91423 @martha.deans There was a known bug for this and it looks like the fix goes out in October release which is today.

Previously I think using a different preset on the same tool was causing the warning. I believe the team have removed presets in their 'same tool' comparison.
