tool path excessive plunging

Hi,  i am very new to this. 

I'm stumped on a tool path i cant seem to figure out how to correct. this has been the same on all models i've created. 

 

on a 2d adaptive clearing operation, the tool path won't run continuous pass around the full parameter of the part. it continues to cross over the piece and plunges to the other side.

 

 I have tied adding extra stock material and didn't make a difference. 

 

Cant seem to get past this hurdle....

Try turning on "Stock Contours". If that doesn't work, would you be able to share your Fusion file here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d/.f3z file in your reply.

when i select Stock contours it shows the tool path the same and when i go to simulate is comes up with an error about the stock material. - If i select an edge in stock contours it shows no tool path and error in simulation. 

 

attached is the file.

If I may, are you looking for something more like the image below? If so then all I have done is turned off the Stock Contour, re-set the top/bottom and under the Linking tab set the Stay Down Level to "Most", still a little wasted movement but no more multiple plunges 🙂 Hope that gets you a little nearer 🙂

is it common to have to add and select a bottom on the heights?

 

also is there a way to default "most" on the stay-down. seems like an odd tool path for default.  

 

I do keep getting this warning on the next operations.

i find it odd that it won't do a continuous pass along the perimeter of the part.

Its a roughing toolpath, its not expected to do a continuous toolpath around the perimeter of a part, If you want to finish it after Adaptive you should use 2D contour

All depends on what you have used to select the shape/contour, if as I did select the top edge of the shape then I had to set a bottom height because it is defaulted to the "contour selection", if I had selected the bottom shape there would have been no need to do that.

 

As for the default to "Least" it has to be defaulted to somewhere and most folks I think prefer to work down to a satisfactory point.

 

As for the continous pass @a.laasW8M6T is correct, that would be done likely with  a 2D Contour

thanks for every ones feedback.  this all helps a ton, i am new and have a long way to go. thank you thus far.
