Tool library woes

I am finally doing the "right" thing and investing the time to create my toolholders and a relatively static tool library rather than just pulling tools on a per job basis. (I don't have a tool changer so I can get away with the messy workflow - that is what I am trying to streamline a bit).

Working on a Mac (have a PC too but can't try this right now), all tools are being saved as HSS even if I select carbide (or other). And when I try to edit an existing tool, fusion will not complain, but will not make the change.

Anyone seeing this as well? Screen capture here: http://recordit.co/3PRId5qOKH

As an aside, is there an ETA for tool library cloud sync? I do a fair amount of jumping between Windows and Mac and it would be great to have changes propagate.

Hi -

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We'll take a look at the video, and make sure to get the issues reported and addressed soon.

We'll follow up with you if necessary.

Thanks for the report.

We hope to be able to synchronize the tool library between the platforms with the next update (next month). Still some work to be done there.

Thanks Jeff. Just as a follow up I tried Windows and did not see the same problem. I then exported the library from windows and tried to import it into the Mac, and it worked, except that every tool shows up as HSS, even though the XML in the exported library contains the correct information. Note how Fusion is also ignoring the coolant setting.

Thank you for your crystal clear description of the issue!

A ticket (CAM-1102) has been logged and fixed in the development version.

Kind regards,

Peter

Woes, yes.  I am running up against the tool library as well.  I've got many boring bars and roughing tools that I'd like to add to my library.  The library loses my tools and when I start a new part to turn on the lathe I have to re-input the boring bar information etc.  I'd like to input tool info accurately and only once and then pull that tool for each part that ends up requiring it.

Is this a current issue or maybe there is a youtube of how to properly use the tool library and I'm just not familiar with how to interact with it yet....

A more detailed concern.  I'm trying to do a turning operation with a round cutter.  Specifically a round cutter.  My profile includes a nice round oring groove and I can't get a holder to keep it's nose out of my business.  So I'd even just use the "no holder" setup, but when I try to only run the cutter it keeps including a holder.

Very specific explanation of the cutter.

Hi Johnson,

I can see your problem. The holders seems pretty persisting in being part of the tool setup ... We have identified the problem and are working on a fix.

As a workaround can you try and reduce the cutting width of the holder, to be half the diameter of the cutting insert, to make the holder get out of the way.

Kind regards,

Peter
