Thread Pitch or Threads per inch?

When defining a tap in the tool libarary it asks for the thread pitch. Does it actually mean the threads per inch or the actual pitch? For a 1/4-20 tap, do I enter 20 or .050?

You enter the thread Pitch .040"

You can also enter 1/20 and it will do the math

There is a typo in your answer.  1/20 = .050 not .040.     .050 is the correct pitch for a 1/4-20 tap.
