Sub spindle lathe wcs setup - is this correct?

Hi!

I have 2 setups in my cam. The first for spindle one which works great and the second for spindle two. I have spindle two tool setup correctly and I have spindle direction correct. Tool path looks good but the wcs is not correct. Z should be in the opposite direction according to the machine kinematics and Y is the wrong way around going down not up although there is actually no y axis on the sub... Is this all correct? I can also upload the file is necessary. Thank you!

You cannot set your WCS the way you expect it to, it's a limitation of Fusion. However, the correct directions will  should be handled by your post processor. My Lynx is the same way (positive is INTO the spindle)

For anyone else finding this thread:

The Z-axis should indeed be pointing in the wrong direction with respect to the (away from the spindle), and the tools must be defined as right hand even if they are left hand in real life. On my machine (Lynx 2600 SY) the spindle direction was also reversed, not sure if that has to do with the tool orientation but in my case I had to toggle "Reverse spindle direction on sub-spindle".

This generates the following G code, where you can see the Z axis does indeed travel in the positive Z direction, which is correct (ignore the M3 P13 lol):

You should create a separate setup for the counterspin, rather than trying to do everything in one.

That is correct. Both Setups should be initially created as "main spindle" orientations, with the correct "Main/Subspindle" selected in the Setup.

Regarding tooling, we actually have an Insider Preview that solves for the "define your tool as RH but it's a LH in reality". 

You need to be a member of the Insider Program to access that feature. Membership is free, but it does involve an application process. You can apply here: https://feedback.autodesk.com/key/Fusion360Insider

 

The feature is an overhaul of the Tool Orientation UI in the tool library and it now correctly solves for the issue of not being able to define your tools correctly.

you program sub-work as if it was sitting in your main spindle (in regard to Z)
You designate the Setup folder as Subspindle

The post then flips the direction for Z moves to make it work on the machine. 

I havent had issues with tool handedness being wrong.
