strange bug in cam?

Hello,

I designe a 1/3 circular 15x15mm part. I introduce a mortise ofe the whole lenght. After that I copied the component as new. When it comes to cam I get for the copy of the component an empty toolpath, bur not for the original one. I tried 2d adaptive and also 2d pocket. It seems to generate a pth for the copy, but it will end with "empty toolpath". I wanted the copy to nest the 2 components for using only one stock.

Could you please help me?

Regards Michael

Please share your file so we can better understand what you are trying to do and how it is NOT working for you.

To share: File > Export > Save to local folder of your choice. Return to this thread and attach the .f3d in your next reply.

The multiple Threat came from a message, that the first sending went wrong, it was not m y intention, sorry.

Attached the file. The left comp is the copy. I get an empty tool path for the mortise. See file attached.

This is the only file you are working with? Where is the setup and toolpath for the first side?

I'm not entirely certain why it is behaving in this manner, as it really should be working. 3D Adaptive does work, for what it's worth, but so should 2D. 2D adaptive owrks on the part on the right, not on the left. I say it's a bug

Looking through your timeline, I'm guessing this body is a copy of the original unit?

If you are tying to produce multiple of the same part out of a single piece of material, the other thing you could be doing is to use the Pattern option. I've included that option in a new setup

Thanks for you reply.

I tried a totally new file. I used circles to get the shape. Because I wanted 1/3 of a circle I use the circular pattern in a sketch with line intersecting the 4 circles. After that I extruded the faces of one of the 3 parts. then I copy and pasted as new. Of course I changed them from Body to components first.

So with this new file I got the same wrong results. In my opinion it has to do with the copy. Then the sketch is only there for the original part. It seems that the CAM-Module depends in some extent to the sketches, which is already know by Autodesk. Sometimes it was recomended to use the sketch outlines in CAM ...

Thanks again. Is this now an official bug report, or shall I send it to anyone else??
