Spot Drill - Lead In and Lead Out Feed Rates

Hi Guys

 

I noticed that the latest fusion update contains a fix for the Spot Drill tool that I reported in this post: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/computer-aided-machining-cam/please-help-chamfer-bug/m-p/6821364#M2361...

Well, unless I am missing something I still cannot see a Lead-In and Lead-Out Feed Rate for Spot Drill even when creating a new Spot Drill tool......... (See Screen Grabs)

 

Could someone kindly enlighten me.

Edit:

 

Looks like the fix is to link Lead feedrates to the Cutting feedrate:

If you change the Cutting Feedrate in the Edit and Compare dialogue you can watch the Lead feeds change to match.

I agree this does not match what is stated on the Update blog.

 

@keqingsong Is this the intended long term fix that has not been applied yet, or can someone chime in here closer to the decision?

Haha thanks! Even though I am not a user of spot drills as chamfer mills, I am REALLY sick of this (as I see it) bug! Smiley LOL

I have experienced this also, I occasionally use spur drills for doing light chamfers on plastics and aluminum, was quick and easy now I get a feed rate of zero if I try to chamfer with the tool, not a big deal, just call up a chamfer tool with the same tool number and it's fine, just forget to sometimes and go to run a program and get illegal feed number, doh!

This should be "fixed" now actually as of the update yesterday. It should pick up whatever you've got the feedrate set at in the toolpath and pass it off to the lead feedrates.

Strange, I had this issue just this afternoon, perhaps it hadn't updated on my end just then.

Accepted solution

This was a "hot fix" not a complete fix.

 

The hot fix simply uses the cutting feedrate for the lead-in Lead out so that you don't get a feedrate of zero in your posted code.

 

We still have open work to add lead-in lead-out values for these tool types.

Cheers for the explanation Al.  Tested this today and all good.  

 

I guess the image in Fusions release notes was just for reference purposes.....  I assumed that there were supposed to be Lead-In and Lead-Out fields.  DOH!
