Some issues with machining rabbets and dados

Hi All,

New to Fusion 360 and I am having a blast working with it!

Below are a couple of pictures to illustrate what I am seeing.

In short, the rabbets are not machining all the way down and second to that is that where the dado and rabbet meet there is a little bit that gets left along the outer edge of the part.

I've tried about every option and tool part style I can see but I am sure this should be something easy to address and I am just missing it. Using a 3/8 bit. The stock is 18mm (.7") plywood (set as a paramater in the modeling side of things) and the depth of all the dados and rabbets is set to ply/2.

Happy to share any additional info or I can also post or send the model if necessary.

I'm pretty sure uploading the part is your best bet.

Because I think I see your problem but can't say what is causing it.

You're missing the CAM data. If you export from the File menu it will include it as opposed to exporting from the model tree (I believe it will also export it if you right click and export from the very top of the tree and not the body/component).

You need to split this up into more than one op. In these areas there's no room for the cutter, making an op for each level will work better.

Here's a screencast on how to setup, I made a couple of mistakes with the offset side when selecting the profiles I left the mistakes in as the show how to select\change the offset side.

Thank You Mark!

Got all that working now... just one more thing to figure out and it probably has to do with the way I've drawn the stuff out of something....

I did the separate contours at the different levels and they came out just like yours but now I need to get the little 'island' that is left at the very end of the dado where it meets the outer edge of the rabbet...

Thanks in advance!

Here an idea using a pocket for the first layer, it does mean more cuts but that might be good as it means the deeper cut doesn't need to remove as much material. I used Create Derived Operation to use the setup parameters from the contour already created.

Thanks Mark. Will give this a shot after I get my daughter tucked into bed for the night.

if you leave the drawing turned on for the rabbits and dados it gives you a broundry to work in then it removes everyting in side the boundry as long as you select face as your bottom
