Simulation for turning

Hi all..

It is already know that fusion 360 can't produce a simulation for turning process.

i want to ask can we use other software to make the simulation? if so, what is the software?

Thanks.

Machine Simulation has never supported Turning and it's something we're looking to address in the coming year or two. As for other software you can use to perform Machine sim; you could use CAMPlete or something similar to do your machine simulation, but most of these packages come with a very hefty price tag...

Solidcam, FeatureCam, Esprit, GibbCAM is the best for turning

Hi @seth.madore ,

When will the necessary issues be addressed and when will such strong demands of the users become your needs? How many years have passed since the program was released, when will the system settle in Fusion? Users who do not want to pay high prices want to switch to Fusion. The fact that such demands are not in Fusion and that important issues are far behind does not make Fusion preferable. Sometimes I have difficulty understanding your demands and requirements.

@emre_sahin9PU3F it's an understandable frustration on the part of the users, I won't argue that. I can't speak much to why it has taken the amount of time it has, all I can say is that bringing increased Simulation functionality is very high on our list of priorities for this year and we hope to deliver actionable results.

It's always amusing to me when people say "we want to use Fusion because it's cheaper but it doesn't do all this extra stuff that the more expensive software does" with zero irony.

I understand your point, but i think its more like "we asked for this before bambu printers were even a thing and now we sat by and watched them be implemented before our request was even addressed"

I personally see no reason why the F360 team should spend time implementing anything to do with bambu when B Studios (a software made and pre-configured uniquely for their machines) already exists.

Im aware that the "lathe turning simulation" and "3d slicing" teams are probably separate people so its not like we're losing a resource but seeing as this started as a CAD CAM software its weird to see things diverge.

good to hear that it is on your priority list. as someone that worked for the last 20 years using GibbsCam and only the last 2 month am playing with Fusion360, i can say that it is a great tool and has a lot potential in the Manufacturing world. Having everything you need in 1 tool is a big advantage. GibbsCam is a very good and simple tool for turning and milling although design and everything else it performs really poor. but what i do like is the turning compatibilities. in fusion 360 i find myself a lot of time having hard time to do simple turning profiles not like gibbscam where you just select the profile path and set start end via dragging. i wish fusion360 would adapt that from GibbsCam.

my point, improving the turning experience in Fusion360 is more important for me that an option for machine simulation.

i hope fusion team will have a look at how gibbscam deals with turning operation and adapt the simplicity. i worked with many software like solidcam, mastercam,... Gibbscam is just the simplest and most powerful tool i used. bring the simplicity to fusion360 please 😁
