"Post Process" dialogue really slow to load

Hey guys,

I've just changed to a new computer at work (brought in from home) and fusion is now taking a long time to load up the "Post Process" Dialogue. It causing massive delays in my work and is allowing me to get distracted far too often.

Any thoughts? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling fusion with no result.

The dialog is pretty snappy for me regardless of how I invoke it. Where is it loading the post-processor from, cloud or local storage?

Are you switching between team hubs frequently? The lag and black screen reminds me of how Fusion handles the team switching and it having to re-download all the cloud-based posts, templates and all...

Staying in the same Team all the time. Posts are cloud posts, but that's how i ran it on my other PC that I was using previously (this PC is much better in every way as well, just to confirm that it can't be the issue)

The only time i ever saw anything like this previously was when the network share that the output folder was pointed at wasn't available.

I suspect it loads posts from your library at this stage. If there are some posts from network locations it can take a while.

I'll try with all of my posts stored locally as a work around for now.

using locally stored posts didn't do anything.

I think it might have something to do with the location of the output files more than anything (being a network drive) however the network drives all open quickly and seamlessly in explorer, so i'm not sure what else to try.

Could you please record Fusion's minidump, when it hangs? See this comment how to do it (don't forget to zip it before sending). I hope we fixed all issues with slow output folder checks already. But minidump should clearly show where Fusion hangs.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like I've got it sorted thanks to Sujay and this post here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-manufacture/fusion-freezes-when-trying-to-open-post-window...

The main part that fixed it was the following:

  1. In %AppData%\Autodesk\Neutron Platform\Options\<userID>\NGlobalOptions.xml
  2. find tag starting with <nc_program UserName="nc_program"
    • If you don't care about NC program defaults, you can remove it completely.
    • If you care, you need to remove only "nc_program_output_folder" parameter. To do this delete text starting from <Parameter expression="'//192. and finishing with the first > symbol.

What I ended up doing was actually deleting the entire tag " <nc_program_output_folder....." - reset fusion and it worked well, successfully opening the post dialogue and I posted a few programs to the default location.

I then reselected the network drive and it continued to work perfectly. After a restart it's still working quickly as it should, and is defaulting to the correct location (the network drive)

Thanks heaps to Sujay and everyone else's suggestions.

Cheers,

Trav
