Quickly Change Tool Numbers in CAM

Is there any way to quickly change the tool numbers in a CAM program without having to open the tool library and modify that particular tool?

It is very time consuming to modify tool numbers in the library each time I make a new program. A simple right click option to change the number would work great, especially as I'm proving out a workflow.

I can quickly change it in the g-code but that's not optimal.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Not sure if this is the kind of tool number changing you are asking about, but there is a way to renumber an entire crib for a job.  It kind of works, but I haven't tried to use it in quite a while.  Last time I tried using it, the renumbering also changed the offsets, even though I had the check marks off.

It seems if I have to open up another window to make those changes and have to do it for each tool separately will be in efficient. What I would like is to be able to change it in the main CAM wind by right clicking on the operation and just make a quick change to the tool number. Right now that's doesn't seem to be possible.

Hi Tony,

The best thing for you to do would probably be to post your idea in the IdeaStation for HSM and if it gains enough traction from other users then we will consider adding it into the HSM products.

There is... it's in the code. : )

It's faster unless you need to Re-Post the code.

I agree, I've always had a hard time using the tool library to save time. The tool library is great for saving tool info and making changes that affect every instance of the tool. The renumbering is great, unless you have multiple Setups in the part. Then you can't tell which op goes to which setup. So, the option is useless in that case. If there was a "Right Click" change tool number option, it would need to either; Duplicate the tool or update every instance of the tool to make it work. It's getting messy then.
