Good morning,
I'm having a problem with the piece comparison. Example:
I do a contour milling with a milling cutter and on the material screen to be left I already apply a correction on the side material of -0.05 mm and at the final moment of machining to the comparison instead of seeing the red face shows it to me with the original color of the face of the piece. the problem is that if the appearance of the blank is green you can make a mistake. the parameters of the comparison are: material to leave 0.00 mm, while the tolerance at 0.02 mm. it would be useful to also have the possibility to apply a "part violation" because when you remove more material than the solid you stop the simulation and error.

Hi @info ,

 

Thanks for the suggestion I will put this forward to the development team for you, it seems like a fair point. Just to clarify, you're saying when using the Comparison simulation mode if the model is cut below size, even if specified to do so using a negative stock to leave value, the surface should show as red?

Good morning @jack.holmes ,
he understood exactly. It would also be useful to have a "part violation" so when you remove more material from the math of the piece, you can also get an error message.

Hi @info ,

 

I've just had a closer look at this and I've realised what is actually going on. The surface does show as red but only if the tolerance for the simulation is low enough to pick this up. Because your negative stock to leave value was lower than the default tolerance (0.2mm) it doesn't show this as being a problem. You can change this tolerance at the bottom of the simulation dialogue:

Good morning @jack.holmes ,
an example is attached.
I basically have to do that bevel with a simple chamfer.
The chamfer is 1mm x45°, I do it with 0.5 mm larger and the face cut more comes out of the color of the piece and not in red.
I hope it's clear enough.

Hi @info ,

 

It looks like you might need to hide the model using the eyeball in the browser to see the simulated cut surface, as the model will be covering this up currently.

good morning @jack.holmes ,
for example I'm drilling this piece and the outer contour of the piece and both the 2 biggest holes are drilled with the profile at 0, but in the comparison I always find this color difference.
It would be necessary that the simulation was more faithful because on other parts I have some cycles where I leave maybe 0.05 mm of material in excess and at the end I have to recheck everything to be sure to have done the finishing.
On Featurecam this did not happen.
I'm waiting for information on how to intervene.
