Post Processor - Makino PS

Is there any post processor available for a Makino PS 3-axis vertical milling machine?  It has a Fanuc controller.  I have tried the Fanuc Generic post processor but it seems to be missing a few G and M code line in the initialization.

My advice? Post out with the generic Fanuc post, manually add those codes in, run it at the machine and see if it needs anything else. Compare the generic output code to proven code you've run and mark up the differences. 

 

The Generic posts are usually all that is needed for "most" machines, and they also provide excellent starting points to build up for your specific machine.

 

Adding in various M and G codes usually isn't too big of an issue and something we should be able to help you with

Here are the headings from both posted files.  I highlighted the differences in RED.  The like commands are in BOLD.  The one thing that I notice is the M23 command in the Makino post.  Do you recommend any changes to the Fusion post?

And there was NOTHING else anywhere? At M01's, at the end of the file, everything else was fine?

Couple further questions;

G21 is the Fanuc call for working with metric values. If you work in imperial and move over to metric the control won't know the difference. The revers applies as well.

 

So we have:

G0 and M23 added to the safe start block

and G0, 01, 02, 03 reduced to one digit: G1, G0, G2, G3

 

Anything else?

Give this post a shot. I've left in the G20/21 call. If you really want it out, I could do that I suppose. I'm not a fan of removing safeties unless there is a clear need.

 

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT store the post where the generics are stored. They will get wiped out at the next update. Personally, I leave them local while I am tweaking the post. You can direct the Post Process browser to where they are stored. Once I have them how I want, I put them on the cloud.

The changes may be at the end of every tool and most likely at the end of the file.

I noticed that the end of the file is slightly different.  Both do a move to home position.  Looks like Makino stops the spindle before ending the program.  Also different time when the coolant is turned off.

 

Makino posts the following:

G91G28Z0.
G91G28Y0.
G49
M09
M05
M30

 

While the Fanuc Generic posts:
M09
G28 G91 Z0.
G49
G28 X0. Y0.
M30

I've made the edits you wanted. However, I do want to point out that what you've asked for is largely irrelevant to the successful operation of running the machine. Where an M9 or M5 is on the line of code won't really impact you one way or another. I realize that seasoned machinists prefer code to be laid out a certain way, as I am the same way. I can't even begin to list how far my own Fanuc post has strayed from the generic output...

To be fair, if the M5 comes before the M9 on our Haas the coolant doesn't turn off until the spindle has stopped, leaving the tool drenched when it goes back in the ATC, so there can be practical reasons.

The Fadal is different, it'll turn off both in the same line and the spindle stops while it's retracting to home zero even though that's not on the same line (I wish the Haas would do that).
