POST PROCESSOR HELP

Hello,

My company just landed a new Micro Dynamics machine on the floor. The setup / training guy said that the machine uses M54 for rigid tapping instead of M29.

He also recommended using inches per rev (G95).

Currently the Micro Dynamics post that is in Fusion doesn’t seem to have rigid tapping setup.

Is anyone available to help with editing the post?

I have attached a few files here.

-The sample Fusion file I used to post the program.

-The post itself.

-A photo of what the post gives me compared to what the setup guy suggested.

Any input is welcome, Thanks.

We have a few Micro Dynamics running, 30V and 40V. Even though the MD PDF mentions and shows the M54, I never had to do anything at all for tapping, including the M54 line, except for not turning on the spindle. Make sure you put the spindle speed on the tapping line and don't start the spindle before hand. My tapping sequence for a 4-40 looks like this:

N3100 ( G54 TAP 4-40 STI .268 DEEP 19X )
( T11 : H01 : D N/A )
( WCS: P37 )
( STRATEGY: DRILLING )
( ZMIN = -0.218 )
T11 M06 ( 4-40 STI TAP )

Unless your VAR changed something parameter wise, they come setup to rigid tap using G84(G74) and feed/min feedrates (which is changeable.) out of the box. I would give it a try without the tap in the holder and see what happens. Your mileage my vary...
