Post processor for Citizen L20 machine

Hi Fusioneers,

Does anyone have a post for a Citizen L20 Sliding Head Machine, that they could share with me,please.

Alternatively, does anyone have any tips on one I could use with minimal editing, please.

Fusion doesn't currently have the functionality to drive Swiss machines unfortunately, In the Autodesk space you would need to look at FeatureCAM (Partmaker) outside of that GibbsCAM also supports swiss well. You might be able to fiddle the post to get some code out of it but I don't believe it would be possible to fully drive the machine ie with dual channel workflows and certainly you couldn't simulate this in fusion, fundamentally it is not supported.

OK, I understand there isn't a post specifically for this machine. However, if I had the base program and wanted to change a tool path, I.e. copy and paste a posted portion, into the

existing program, would this work?

Hi @tony3W49B,

I am not 100% sure about this but that could potentially work however the issue that i think you would run into is that you would likely need to modify a post in order to output the Z positions correctly, obviously the swiss machine will output cutting moves as Z+ as it drives the part through the guise bushing whereas a regular lathe would have cutting moves in Z-. 

Because Fusion doesn't support swiss none of the standard posts will do this, it could be that simply reversing the Z positions from a generic post would get you positions and that could then be used to dump into your existing program. The whole thing is very hacky and potentially dangerous as you would be inserting unverified code directly into the program. 

If you are just doing this to try and get over a hurdle, then it might be worth trying however if you want to program this thing in the long run then looking at a proper swiss solution would certainly be the way to go.

Hi @tony3W49B 

a Beta post had been created to use with a software provided by Alkart (an UK Citizen reseller).

It is supporting some Citizen machines (L20-VIII, L20-X, L32-VIII, L32-X)

The individual toolpaths are generated from Fusion, and then combined by this software.
