Hi All I drew a block 3.250 x 1.5 with a small cove detail at one end ….. the radius of the cove was 3.375 and who has a cutter that size so I 3d machined, contour, the cove area, with no problem it simulates fine, now I go to post it, I tried the Haas next generation control which I have, It fails, I tried the Haas Pre NGC it fails , The machine is a Haas Mini Mill, could someone please help me ….. thank you George 🙂

Can you please upload your Fusion f3d file, go to :-

File>Export>f3d format>save to your computer and then attach to your reply.

try the attached Post Processor, it is the latest HAAS NGC Post, updated only 2 days ago and it does post code here with your file, it is by default a "No TCP" processor but you can turn it on at the point of posting if required.

It is a HAAS Generic 5 axis PP so it outputs A and B which may need turning off as your control may not accept them but go with it for now 🙂

Hi Rob ….I ran the post you sent me and it said "B Axis is disabled" …. I don't have a B axis the machine is 3 axis X,Y,Z,.

any suggestions 🙂

Apologies for the delay, household duties got in the way 🙂

 

Try the attached file and HAAS NGC PP, I have done some mods to your file, I have changed your Machine configuration from the 5 axis configuration you had to a 3 axis configuration and your Contour.

 

Hope it is nearer for you this time 🙂 🙂

Good Morning Rob, I hope you had a good weekend, thank you for all your help 🙂

I ran the program this morning and it ran in my machine no problem, no errors.

I ran a sample part and I noticed that the corners of the cove were curving down on the tool path

which left a indent on the part ..... also I was informed that the radius on the cove was to large so we moved it down from 6.750 to 1.750, I redrew it, naturedly all the changes went accross the board, I also made the steps smaller for the contour so it would be smoother ….. now when I repost it the tool path outlines the part then goes to cut the contour, all I want it to do is cut the cove with a fine cut so it looks good, I want the countour to cut straight accross the part and not cause any divots in the stock at the end of the cut, I attached the new drawing to this post …. If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated, thank again George

Good evening George, I am I think a few hours ahead of you here in the UK 🙂 🙂

 

Had another look at your file, done a few changes and I don`t have time to list them here right now, so you will I am afraid have to work through all the Tabs to see what changes I have done, it does look to be nearer what you mention in your description so here is the file attached, if you run it through the simulation it does look better than before, to get the tool to go off the bottom edge it needed the "Contact Point Boundary" to be enabled, this allows the ball end tool to run over the edge allowing the side of the ball end mill to be used instead of it being the tool tip 🙂 🙂 🙂
