Okuma Post Processor G91 Sub-Program

Hello,

As a new programmer I was tasked with creating a program to mill some bores and pockets into a simple part. The machine I am using is an older Okuma MC5VA with OSP5020M control. I downloaded the generic Okuma post.

The Okuma cannot do helical moves so I disabled this in Post Properties. Because of memory limitations the use of a subprogram is helpful to execute a helical boring routine around the part. The code produced by fusion does create sub-programs however each bore has its own sub (i.e. 8 sub programs for 8 bores). Is there a way to tell the post to utilize G91 so that the same helical boring sub can be called at various locations? This would greatly reduce the number of lines in my code.

Any help on this would be appreciated!

Hi @gfast4SD6Y ,

For Okuma generic post, if you want to use same subprogram for different positions, you will have to use Pattern. There are different options available in pattern. (Linear,Circular,Duplication)

Here I have used linear pattern:

Once you create the operations with pattern while post processing you can select Use Subroutines-> Pattern, it will use same subprograms with G91 for different positions

Hey @aju_augustine,

Are you sure this works with circular and mirrored patterns? I guess these types of pattern rotate/ flip the orientation of the toolpath meaning each sub would have to become different. To clarify I am helical boring a bolt circle pattern which I began by circular patterning the bore operation.

I was able to achieve the desired result using the duplicate pattern! Thanks for the help on this!

Hi @gfast4SD6Y ,

You are right, it doesnt work for mirrored pattern, since the toolpath is flipped, that same subprogram wont work.
