Now getting "An error has occurred during stock calculation"

This is driving me crazy.  I am trying to produce NC code to machine a part.

I'm getting error "An error has occurred during stock calculation" when I try to simulate.

The frustrating thing is I have done this before countless times with no issues

I'm trying to CAM OP3 on a part where I machine 4 pieces at once.  I create a new file, bring in the original part and copy it 4 times and JOINT assemble them as they would be held in the CNC machine.  I chose the 4 bodies as the model and I choose 4 meshes (OP 2 results STL mesh) as the stock.  I setup a simple face operation that runs over all 4 parts and right away, I get the error.  If I change the stock to the same bodies as the model, no problems.  If I do this same setup but only on one part (not 4), no problems.

I have tried this on multiple PCs (all Win 10) and have the same problem.

As I said, this has worked before, but now does not.  I have tried lots of variations but no luck.

Please attach your model so the Forum users can try and help you out on your model, since it is giving you the issue.

I can't post this model since it is a Customer specific file, but I will create a dummy part and try to recreate the error the same way.

I'm having a similar problem, and it's preventing me from doing any CAM simulations on a part. I'm currently left with sending it to the machine and hoping it works, which is far from ideal. In my case, I'm using a model with multiple bodies for the stock. I've had several different tool paths product the error "An error has occurred during stock calculation." Sometimes after I click OK, it crashes Fusion, and sometimes I can close the Simulate dialog and it will be fine. But if I try to simulate, it crashes Fusion. This is on Windows 10.

I am not able to include a file because it's covered by an NDA. Here is one of the many error reports I've gotten: 311639173. This is completely blocking me from using simulations for this part.

File received, and it's crashing for me as well. I've opened a conversation with the appropriate team, we'll get this looked at. I did find that I was able to Simulate if I was willing to break the link for the component. Not an ideal solution by any stretch..
But, that may be a workaround, create the toolpaths in the original document?

I tried creating a dummy file from scratch and everything worked flawlessly.  But, when I use files created weeks or even months ago, I get the problem.

I also tried breaking the links to the original file, but I still get the error.  I have no workaround at this time.

I will be emailing you the file that I am experiencing the error with.

I did try breaking the link, and I was able to simulate until I regenerated the tool paths. Then I encountered the same issues. Sometimes it crashes before displaying the error, and sometimes it displays the error first. But it always crashes.

I am still having the same problem.  Have not heard anything from AutoDesk about what is going on with this. 

We can't be the only people running into this bug?

The issue, as far as I can tell, is that the bug does not repeat per user. With the steps I took on one file, I was able to proceed without issue. However, @johnXH8PE was not, using the same steps.

I'd suggest turning off In Process Stock (on the Utilities tab), breaking links to components, saving the file and trying again.

Here is what I did:

• Broke the link
• Saved the file
• Restarted my computer (because I did the first two steps several days ago)
• Opened the file
• Turned off in process stock generate
• Quit Fusion 360
• Opened the file again
• Ensured in process stock generation was still off
• Started the simulation and clicked the play button

Here is the crash report: 311887985

So no matter what I do, I'm unable to simulate without getting a crash. I guess my next step would be try create a new file, add the parts to the new file, and re-create the CAM operations to see if that behaves any differently.

Success! I inserted derived all the parts into a new file, re-created the setup, copied the tool paths, and now it works. I can simulate and it doesn't crash. So it seems like somehow the other file got corrupted.

What exactly did you do?  I am not sure what you mean by "I inserted derived all the parts into a new file".

I get the recreate setup and copy the tool paths, tho 😀.

@amasters, I created a new file without deleting the existing one. I had created some models in the existing file. So in the new file I inserted those components using the insert derive feature: Fusion 360 Help | Insert tools | Autodesk. Is that what you're asking?

Ongoing issue for me. Are you still getting this error? I'm assuming it happens after an update. I need a real solution, as I have too many files to go and do this to all. 

UPDATE: ISSUE FOUND !! After an update, a tool was found to have been altered. I changed the issues with the tool and all simulations are working fine now.
