No window select in "Avoid/Touch surfaces" ?

It seems as if Window/Freeform/Paint section is unavailable in the context of selecting faces to avoid or touch, which is exactly where I need it the most.

What's up with that ?

Thanks !

I get around this by simply creating selection sets in the production model. These can then be used in the operations.

It isn't perfect but is work good.
In addition, you usually need the same selections more often.

Hi Marcus, thanks for your suggestion ! I didn't know about selection sets.

Still, it seems pretty lame that window selection is disabled in contexts where they are most useful...

This is a limitation that we're planning on applying some focus to this year, it's something many customers have been asking for!

Hi Seth,

I'm still perplexed as to why selection doesn't work the same throughout, as if someone went out of his way to cripple the software.

Anyways, thanks for your answer ! Looking forward to not selecting hundreds of faces one by one.

CAD space and CAM space are not entirely conjoined environments and Window Select of features is not something that A) has been a high priority for us (compared to other more pressing matters) and B) Not entirely just a "quick code addition to make work". It's risen to prominence, so we hope to take it on in the coming development year.

Hi again Marcus,

This didn't work for me because of a bug : when I use the selection set to define the surfaces that need to be milled, surfaces from another solid in my model are added to the selection set for no reason.

I guess it has something to do with internal IDs of the faces that get mixed up.

Really, this makes FUSION a chore to use on models with many faces !

Best,

Did you create the selection set in a manufacturing model or in construction inviroment?

I have no problems with it!

I made the selection in the manufacturing environment.
Maybe you don't have any problems because your model has only one body.

Any idea when multi-selection will become possible ?

This is really crippling when dealing with solids comprising a great number of faces... and also seems a bit silly for a CAD software in 2025.

We're actively working on an improved selection experience, but it's still in early testing phases
