New tool library, slow and clunky for anybody else?

I have to say, I'm not a fan of the new tool library at all. 

Every time I select my specific library, it takes about 5-10 seconds to load where as the old was instant, and I can't get it to "remember" to order my tools by number, so selecting that option adds another 3-5 seconds to get it in order. 

Anybody else dealing with this? Is there any way to revert back?

Yes, everyone is encountering the same thing, and it's annoying.

The remembered sorting is currently being worked on.

Yes, you can switch back to the old library. Go to the top right, where your avatar/initials are. Click on it, and then click on Preferences. Go to the bottom, where it says Preview Features. Turn off the new Tool Library:

The speed is an issue that we are aware of, and we expect the new library to be slower to a degree, but the difference you state in your post is much greater than we'd have expected. If you have the time and are willing to do so it would be really helpful if you could share a few details with us so that we can try to make sure we are focusing our efforts in the right direction.

In particular it would be great if you could record a video of selecting a tool in the old and new library so that we can compare when specific events happen and perhaps get a better sense for what specific part of the loading process is causing issues. It would also be really useful if you could let us know roughly how many tools you have in your libraries (or even share the libraries with us if you don't mind doing so) and the rough specs of your computer.

We'd be very grateful for any help you can give us with this if you happen to have the time spare.

It's not slow in clunky performance wise for me at all. It is slow and clunky intuitively though. What kind of hardware do you have?

There was some great updates that save a ton of time with current stock condition. But the Tool Manager found a way to reclaim that "saved time". It is very slow and awkward. My holders are gone. It might have been released too soon : ) Any change has a transition of thinking and processing.

Hey Seth,

When I uncheck the "Preview-Tool library" box to go back to the old one, the old library doesn't work.  When I click on the tool library button, no tool library window opens, but the Fusion browser behaves as if a tool library window is open (you get the error sound if you try to click anything) and only option is to force quit.  Any ideas?

It likely opened off-screen (where an alternate monitor used to be). Try using Alt-Space to bring up a menu, with which you can drag it back on-screen.

I think you are right.  When I do alt-space I can close the invisible tool library window but I can't seem to move it.

Any ideas?

Ok I got it.  I had to extend my displays the other way and I found it.

Usually you can activate the Move action in the menu, and then drag it using mouse or cursor keys.

No problem here, very, very slightly slower but I am normally working offline, when I do go online to check for updates etc and try it there then it does really slow down, particularly if I tried to use a Cloud Library which I have now dumped as I have no need of it now that I have only a single location to work at these days.

IMHO if you don`t need to use the Cloud (Bunch of servers flying in a loose formation!!) for remote access by either yourself or others involved in your work then leave it be 🙂

As long as you have a reasonable specification computer at your location then as I have found it is faster/easier to stay offline, no reliance on slowed down Internet/Autodesk Servers at peak times 🙂 🙂

FYI My computer that was pretty cutting edge when it was built for me is now 11 years old and is just about managing, I have even got it working on Win10 although the Motherboard says the OP isn`t compatible and can no longer be updated it does still run 🙂 🙂

I have to go online more these days as we are now in the position of not being able open files made with the next Version, gone the same way as all the other Cad-CAM softwares in that regard, but, hey, that`s progress isn`t it ??? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Alt + Spacebar then press M. Then the dialog attaches itself to your cursor and you can move it back onto your screen... don't click your mouse buttons otherwise it will 'place' the dialog again which could possibly still be off screen.

Finally figured out how to go back to the old library. I really like the function of the new one but, the time it takes to load all of the tools each time I try and load the library drives me crazy. If they can figure this out, i'd love to come back

I am also still complaining about this on a regular basis. Was hoping it would get sorted out by now. Its been 2 years!
